I would like to say hello to all from northern Alabama. I have viewed this sight in the past and I must say you guys and gals are great. It is so nice to find so many people that enjoy the same thing I do.

I am just learning to try and posts threads, make comments and add pictures to my profile picture page. I find making props much simpler than trying to figure out how to do forums.

I started about 10 years ago with a simple garbage can prop and now 10 years later I have made about 13 pneumatic props and about 10 motorized props and numerous homemade static props and plenty of stores bought. I try not to think about how much money is tied up all together. Every year I try to make something new and of course buy something new.

As of this year I am worried a bit. I have run out of room for storage and I really like making new things. I currently rent out a 10 x 20 storage building and it can't handle no more plus this year I had to buy a trailer to haul everything in. Have any of you run into this problem?

When do you call it quits on making prop?

Do you ever get rid of the older ones to make room for the new?

I always get that question and I am sure you do too which is your favorite prop? I always answered I have no favorite, but the other night I thought of my props as kids. I made them or help in the making; some give me trouble just like kids while others work almost flawlessly. Some are nice looking and others look better in the dark. So over all it’s like having kids and someone asking which one do you like most. So for me now it’s a no brainer. I love my kids equally (if I had more than one) so I equally favor my props.

There is more for me to say but I am sure I can find the right threads to reply to or ask questions.

In closing I have to give thanks to my wife for putting up with my obsession and I am sure most of thank your spouse for the same thing.

    Your haunt looks great!!

    Welcome to the forum!
As I was going up the stair, I saw a man that wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today...Oh how I wish he'd go away.

    Greetings from England!!
Prop storage is a big problem for many...especially after 10 years of home haunting!!

Have you considered possibly selling or auctioning off some of your older props (maybe for charity) to make room for some new ones? Store bought props are extremely expensive and I'm sure there are less creative haunters that would love to own some like yours!
