I have already posted a few times and would like to thank everyone that has taken the time to answer or even read my posts. With that said...
My husband and I love Halloween. Until two years ago, we had always lived in apartment complexes so Halloween was not a big deal. No major decorating and there were no TOTs because you need a key to get into the building.
Three years ago we were invited to a Halloween party at my friends house and they decorated inside and out, had the music and sound effects outside, fog machines, outdoor lighting, the lights inside were set up to strobe with the sounds it was amazing and we were so drawn into the whole experience. We asked them if the following year we could help out. They were very grateful because they could attend to party guests while we handed out candy and scared the TOTs.
Time passed and that year we bought our first home in the summer about an hour away from our friends and where we used to live. Now what to do, we promised our friends we would help them, but now we have our own house to think about. We asked around our neighborhood and there really are no TOTs that come around. We are outside of the city and we live on a hill. I guess the candy is not worth the exercise. Hooray, we still get to help our friends!
2007 was great. I just wore a reaper robe with the blackout mesh on my face with long glow in the dark fingernails, tried not to speak and my husband was a sitting scarecrow. I stood next to him to get the TOTs to be near him. Some would poke at him or ask if someone was in there. He did not move until the time was right. Kids were running away in all directions, it was awesome. We had so much fun we startied planning for the next year on November 1!
2008 we decided to be a crazed couple. My husband was all bloodied up, crazy hair, had gloves, goggles, apron and a sawzall (sans blade) to chase the TOTs down the driveway. I wore a mumu (I don't know what they are really called, maybe a duster or I guess a nightgown?). I had a hatchet in the back of my head, a knife in my shoulder and intestines coming out of my mumu. Everyone loved it. We got so many compliments on the house, the decos, the sound effects, the costumes. We started telling people it wasn't our house, we were just there to help, but so many people were commenting we just started saying thank you.
2009 we are going to be a fortune teller and live spirit ball. Not as gorey as before, but my husband can still scare the TOTs by speaking from the spirit ball. Thanks to everyone that helped with my questions.
Now if you are still reading this I have posted albums from the previous years. Of course photos do not do a Halloween display justice, but I posted a few anyway.
