Hello from SE WI. I'm a newbie to this site.
Each year I try to add one major display to my Halloween decor so, as I hunt for ideas, I naturally came upon this site.
Our neighborhood sets its own dates and times for Halloween. We close off the streets and always have nighttime trick or treating. The town has daytime trick or treating but that's so dull. Glad to live where I do because night time is the ONLY time for trick or treating. As neighbors move in and out, as their kids grow up and families lose interest in decorating for Halloween, our neighborhood constantly is changing the Halloween decorations.
2 yrs. ago I added a FCG display in my front window.
Last year I added a huge ghoul that was connected to a submersible sump pump that recirculated "red blood" from his mouth. I also did "Hallowindow".
This year I'll add a Peppers ghost in my graveyard. I tried the peppers ghost last year but ran out of time to perfect my video. Oh, the video- I got several neighborhood kids and their parents to hold a flashlight under their faces in a dark room and recorded them warning "Go back", etc. I think they'll all be surprised when they find themselves projected in my graveyard. They expected this last year but I flunked. I'm also doing the singing pumpkins (couldn't resist them as hard as I tried) and I'm going to try a new projection that I'll share in a separate post. Made the flickering candles in 2 different types this year to add to my graveyard.
I made Martha Stewart paper mache (?sp) pumpkins, skeletons, ghosts, etc. years ago. They're painted with bright enamel colors and their eyes, mouths, noses, cut-outs are various tissue paper colors which add glowing colors. I have a fondness for these because this type of Halloween decoration was done back in the early 1900's. Someday, I'll make some more.
Graveyard (somewhat primitive compared to what I see here) was also added years ago.
Loud scary music always. Fog machines (the cheapies) too.
I purchased a tall 3-panel theater mirror hoping to do something with for Halloween but I haven't figured out a use for this yet.
That's about it. I'll post my great idea for a new projection under props now.
