Greetings, I just found this place, so I haven't lurked long. I'm an addicted pumpkin carver who's already back into pattern making mode. Hopefully there are others here. I would link to my pumpkin carving site (and tried to in a greetings thread which is still in moderation), but apparently I need more posts.

In any event, I'm looking forward to some great Halloween conversations here!

Thanks! I'm sort of amazed at the traffic here right now. Carvingpumpkins.com (where I usually hang out as the big day nears) is usually pretty dead after December - you all seem to have LOADS of folk here!

Call me paranoid and cynical, but sometimes I feel like we're just being stared at by the morbidly curious whenever I'm on a board where the lurkers outnumber the registered members by a huge margin; I mean, I get laughed at so much IRL that it's kind of a difficult feeling to shake (I belong to a board that was ridiculed on the Encyclopedia Dramatica once).

Not that I really give that much of a hoot about who may be looking in or why; it's just my theory. I'm not ashamed of the things that interest me; you could do a lot worse than Halloween, after all.

A lot of times, a good percentage of the "lurkers" are spider bots from Google and so forth. Admins can look at the IP addresses of the guests to confirm, but at least on a site I admin, a large percentage of them are bots. Google in particular will have like 10 guests at a time sometimes.

Now that's the truth!

Some of the guests may be actual members who aren't logged in, too...I do that myself sometimes, when I don't have much time to browse or post.. I just stop by to take a quit look so it appeases my addiction to this place. :-)
