Well Laurie, it was supposed to be. But being in Texas limits the amount of FX work I can do with any big productions. I had a chance to move out to Hollywood and work on the movie "Hollowman" with Kevin Bacon as an assistant FX artist but I just couldn't pick up and leave with the short notice they gave. So, I do what I can here and there, a lot of Indi films and commission work for Haunts. I've had the privileged to work closely with CJ Graham and Kane Hodder from the Friday the 13th franchises and Andrew Bryniarski from TCM remake.
I had a distant relative, Paul Blaisdell, that was a pioneer of the fx world in the 50's and 60's and he gave me so much inspiration to follow in his footsteps. Someday I know he right job will come around and I might take the offer, but until then I just keep trucking along and do what I can to help the Horror community strive.

Whoa, that's very impressive, Bear!! I certainly hope the perfect job opportunity comes along for you soon, as the industry would be very lucky to have you--and I admire your continued dedication to the prosperity of the Horror community.
So I was hoping to get a decent pic of me over the Christmas holidays but unfortunately the one and only pic i was in, my BF's eye's were closed. So Im using the same pic I posted at "the other place". Its fairly recent...late October so I really do look the same. Well, here it is...me and my beautiful boyfriend at my mother's birthday party Oct. 23 2007.
bear- that's such an endearing story. i know the right job will come for you, especially with that talent. i do believe that sometimes if you sit back and be patient, things will just fall into place. did you go to school for FX, or did you just kind of learn by trial and error?

No, it's mostly self taught...I went to a few seminars here and there but they were mostly for just being with like minded people, much like here.
I've tried several different things over the years but my love for Halloween and special effects has been with me every step I took. Now that I've put to rest the pro hanut and the pro magic career, I think that my path has been cleared and I really know what I want to do.
I will begin to entertain the public at home, with my family, and try to give a little of me that's bottled up to those who want to experience it. It will be a challege, with the haunt, people came with a certain expectation of what was inside...with the home haunt, I'm taking chances with anyone who just happens by. My dilema is whether to go with the entertainment side, or go for the scare. I'm sure I'll just wind up mixing the two and see what happens.
One of the main reason I decided to join this forum was to hopefuly be some sort of help or inspiration to someone who might need it. If only there was someone when I started out that I could talk to or run ideas by, how much easier it would have been.
