Larry said a few months ago he'd enable them and work on them, but I guess maybe he's changed his mind?

Perhaps if he's not going to make his own, he could possibly allow the members to use their own custom avatars, with an acceptable size limitation to prevent the forums from looking amateurish.

Please?

I post over at spokaneforums.com quite a bit. Mostly political stuff. They have the following rule for using your own avatars:

width can be no greater than 125 pixels, the height no greater than 125 pixels, and the file size no more than 98 KB.
