Hi there,
I'll start with a story. It was a dark and rainy night, and I was on my way to Carlsbad, a town about 30 minutes north of San Diego.
I answered an ad on Craigs List, requesting make up artists for an indie zombie movie. I paint and create digital art, so I responded. I have no idea what's in store.
I finally found the right apartment and a parking spot. Light rain was sifting down as I ran for their porch, perfect zombie weather!
We were using gelatin, which I quickly took to. I'd made some teeth and a cheekbone out of baked Sculpy in case I could use them, and I could. I really like working with gelatin. I was assigned one of the main zombies, who needed more detail than the others. She came out wonderfully. You'd almost think I knew what I was doing!
I'm the one on the left.
I've been enthusiastic about making zombies ever since. I even watched the Walking Dead marathon on AMC!
So I'm thinking the gelatin is great and all, but it wouldn't hold up for, say, a zombie march through Comicon. It would melt, and not in a good way, so I've been watching videos on Youtube about using latex instead of gelatin. And that's how I wound up here!
