Morning all,
After 3 solid weeks of lurking the forum and using all the great info to decorate this year - I'm sitting here in the calm before the storm planning next year already.
A bit of history - we moved into the house three years ago, and were warned that Halloween was a big deal in our neighborhood. I had no idea what that meant until September rolled around, and I found the neighbors catty-corner from us building a mausoleum in their front yard. Two weeks later, about 20 Halloween blow-ups appeared in the yard of the house across one street.
That first year we panicked and put up two bats and a skeleton - and were shocked and amazed when about 400 ToTs showed up.
The next year I vowed to do better - and went out and bought one blow-up and a bunch of cheap tombstones - and was absolutely floored when we had 800-1000 ToTs (I lost count).
The day after Halloween last year I really got the bug, surfed the net for a week coming up with the list of everything I wanted to do, and planned on working a little bit all year on the decorations. Typically though - my follow-through was weak and I didn't get started this year until the first of October.
That being said - I've spent a ton of time over the last month getting ready. With the help of this site (and others) I built a fence-plank coffin (only took 4 hours), a couple of bucket vortex chillers, and also 80' of pvc/wood cemetery fence (took about 40 hours and 40 cans of spray paint). Oh - I did I mention I bought a Fire Chief fogger (hidden in the coffin)? I can basically fog up the entire neighborhood now in about 30 seconds.
And of course Halloween 2011 isn't even over and I'm planning for next year. This year I have 918 pieces of candy (don't ask where the 32 pieces went) and am thinking that's not going to be enough.
Here are some pre-Halloween pics from last night.
