Good evening to all out there in Halloween land. I live high atop a mountain where it snows most Halloweens. Houses far apart, hard to trick-or-treat. Surrounded by very grumpy "Anti-Halloweenies". Candy is frowned apon. Halloween is a useless time consuming, kid corrupting pain in the "arse". On my block all houses go dark and children dissappear. I decorated every year. Props, sound fx. black light room, etc. All for mostly my little family to enjoy. The 20 or so Trick-or treaters we would have were always delighted. I always hoped by word of mouth or at least all the bright lights we could pull off a destionation place where everyone could have a fun time. I handed out big treat bags full of candy and toys. There were always streets lined with decorated homes where everyone went. I hoped to jump start my street. What stopped me was the year that I watched my neighbors decorate Yay! One large house on the end of the block had a flag up all October "Trick-or -treaters stop here!" We always volunteered at the school carnival, so it's a hectic time doing the carnival and seeing the nifty decorated homes and trick-or-treating. taking care of our own haunt. A lot of driving around. Finally,to travel down our own street we went to the end house the one with the sign up ALL October. No more sign, no lights nothing not even a pumpkin! We looked down our rural road it was all black! Unless you were dumb enough to travel mid way where my house stood so brightly lit orange, green, purple... looking like I was trying to contact aliens from outerspace. My house does not face the the main street so it was invisable to anyone driving by. And where were the neighbors?. They locked up the pumpkins turned out the lights and hid away. It was heartbreaking. I would listen to all the Adults whine and moan about what toruble Halloween was. Any fun was just sucked away. I saw kids actualy guilty about candy! And parents say we'll have to get rid of most of that crap. Couple years ago a new family moves in right next door with 2 darling daughters.( I don't think the mom can smile) Trick-or-treat! I hand out the treat bags to the costumed kids when the oldest says, "Oh,we arn't allowed to have candy!....my jaw dropped and I bit my tongue before I almost blurted "Are you F...ing me!!" Well kids, just the tip of the iceberg in Anti-weenville. So very happy to find this site. I did'nt beleve folks like you all existed. It's fun to even read the menus for partys. Thank you all for being here. Have fun today!! Arwynn
