Hello again all - I already had the chance to introduce myself but was unsure where else I should post this question. I am still relatively new and have been loving my time on the Halloween Forum. Because I am still a newbie I have been worried about etiqutte.
I saw a long time member comment on newbies resurrecting old posts. I'm assuming because we are seeing all the great old information and posting on it which bumpts it into all the new threads - is this bad form, should we be keeping to only the recent posts and just enjoying the older ones but not commenting on them?
I read through the whole rules section/threads and any information I could find for newbies but was wondering if there is any other etiquette that is not necessarily a "rule" that we should keep to?
I just want to be sure I am a good member who contributes to the greatness of this site rather than irritating or bringing anyone down!
Thanks.

As I was going up the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. I wish, I wish he'd go away.

The only un- written rule that I know of is : you must be nice to creeeepycathy; make wonderful compliments on every pic she post; and agree with everything she says.
Just Kiddin' !
Personnally, I like seeing some of the old threads drug up. My taste in what I want to do with my haunt changes yearly. Something I did not want to build last year, may be something I totally HAVE to do this year. So, it's good to be reminded of what's out there..
But, that's just me.

I personally have no problem with new people searching and commenting on old threads. I wouldn't worry about it.
I think the only rule is be polite, have fun and enjoy the forum.

Bringing old threads back to life is alright, just check to see if the original poster is still active on the forum before posing questions directly to them. It's better to bring up old threads than start a billionth thread on "how do I...?" Oh and check the date of items someone has posted for sale. Nothing worse than getting excited about something you've been looking for only to see the original posting was from 3 years ago.

Unwritten? I thought that was part of the Halloween Forum pledge of allegiance?

I like threads that are dead and buried brought back to life. It brings attention to a lot of old classics. (I also don't mind folks pointing out that they've been stale for a while.)

If you mean my comment, I was being sarcastic about how busy the forum is and having older threads show up as well as all the newer ones... y'all are taking too much of my time and making me late for work!
I have to check it at least 2x a day or it gets too far ahead for me to catch up with all the way! Feels like Halloween already.
I do have to warn you that on many forums it's very bad form to do necromancy on threads that have been inactive for more than 3-6 months, but here it actually pulls up some ideas that I hadn't seen (or missed) before, like the Ghostly Footprints thread. Often, either there will be an automatic lock on threads after a certain date or the mods will yell at you and/or ban you if the first thing you do is time-displace a dozen threads with your first twelve posts. So it was a good idea to check, but that's definitely not the case here! Except for asking to buy something from 3 years ago... that's just being silly!
Also I'm not a long time poster, I'm just a "posts way too often" poster.

Gobby I love "Night of the Living Thread"!
Cathy thank goodness you clued me in - I took my pledge and checked out your pictures, they ARE fabulous!
Xane it WAS your comment I saw and while I could tell you were joking it made me wonder if it was actually bad form or not. Thank you all so much for clarifying, I want to be a part of this forum for a long time to come and didn't want to start annoying people right off the bat! As for not being a long time poster - anyone with The Great Pumpkin title or more gets my attention <bowing repatedly - I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy

Since you were so helpful on the dead threads topic - I try to be dilligent about searching for old posts on a topic before starting a new thread but sometimes I can't even find a thread I was directed to search for. Am I using the search function wrong or how can I improve my searches?
Thank you all for your kindness and patience!!As I was going up the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. I wish, I wish he'd go away.
