Hi All!
I've not been on here since last Halloween, for shameThe fact is although I was really looking forward to Halloween last year, I was so disappointed with peoples lack of interest(even my own mates and their kids) that I was seriously thinking about giving the whole idea up! After my daughter and I had finished t or t we came home and ate the party food alone. From then on I seemed to be under a very dark cloud until the new year, lots of bad luck etc. But I have been accepted for university this year and am feeling somewhat better. We are likely to be moving house and there have been friend losses(a good thing) and gains so I'm back on for it. BRING ON HALLOWEEN 2011!!
So who knows what themes they're going for this year? I want to hear all about it! I was thinking a Gruesome Garden Party!! That is I'm going to set up the graveyard (I managed to get me a skeleton groundbreaker) in the back garden with a couple of scary black cats and a noisy crow complete with red glowing eyes greeting them from the top of the wall and maybe make a full size werewolf from a body stocking, some stuffing and a mask and have him sitting nonchalantly at my garden patio table with my daughter and I. The front garden of the house is quite big but I wouldn't want to leave my stuff out there, it would probably walk off!! So I was going to subtly decorate the front of the house but have creepy card signs, pointing trick or treaters to the back of the house as we'll be in the middle of a terrace and then have the gate open, just decorating through from the front hallway, kitchen to the lean-to and back garden! What do you think, any ideas(cheap ones)![]()

Welcome back, carmilla. Sounds like a neat idea. Another suggestion for in the garden would be to have zombie hands coming out of planters (maybe another member can remember where the thread was [had some tags to print and use, too]... I had no luck finding it, unfortunately
).

Hi Garthgoyle, okay cool another one for the list, I might try to do hands in various stages of decomposition if I can, a few bony ones aswell as bloodied fleshy ones! Thought I'd make the lean too which is attached to the shed, look like a mauseleum from a distance , but when they look up close, it'll be a dungeon instead.

It is hard not to let others get you down. I absolutely love Halloween and it brings me great happiness planning and dreaming and putting it all together. In addition to my home we have trick-or-treating at our office for children of coworkers. They asked repeatedly for everyone to decorate their cubicles so of course I did it up right. Most of the office loved it and hung out at my cubicle for the party however there were a couple of people I work for who gave me disdainful looks or made nasty comments about it being a childrens holiday and how childish it was of me or made fun behind my back. I let those few people steal my whole holiday spirit and felt almost embarassed. Finally a good friend of mine told me to not be afraid of who I am and reminded me of the old saying: "Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." Keep your head up and if it makes you happy don't let anyone steal that joy from you!!

Thanks for that Witchful Thinking, I'm just looking through the zombie thread. I know I shouldn't let it bother me, and to be fair it was a few other things and a healthy dose of SAD I expect. But when my own friends couldn't be bothered... they were happy to come to my birthday and eat free food and enjoy free music a couple of weeks earlier though. Still places and people change, I have now rethought my friendship circle and have decided to find likeminded people instead. Just hope that I def get to move house, I need a complete change of scenery and people.
