I can't find any good Halloween novels! All I find is horror...which is okay, I guess, as long as it is Halloween and isn't too gory or gross or makes me paranoid O_o .

So...any good recommendations?? And a non-spoilery description, perhaps?

    Please and thank you!!

    I LOVE this one:
Something Wicked This Way Comes - 1962 novel by Ray Bradbury. It is about two 13-year-old boys, Jim Nightshade and William Halloway, who have a harrowing experience with a nightmarish traveling carnival that comes to their Midwestern town one October.

Something Wicked This Way Comes & Halloween Tree are what I consider the definitive books for the season. I've read them every year as far back as I can remember.

Dark Harvest & A Lonesome October Night are on my reading list this October, as well as the short stories of M.R. James and H.P. Lovecraft

October Dreams is my favorite read of them all...I would highly recommend this book...I have always check out this book from my local library and I am always happy reading and re-reading it. I have been doing this for the past eight years.... so it is definately a keeper.
The only downfall of Halloween is it only happens once a year.

You cannot go wrong with Irvings Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Sleepy Hollow. Perfect. I'm looking for audio books to load on my iPod while I work on stuff. Did "Something Wicked" I've downloaded Halloween Tree, and I'll add Sleepy Hollow to the list.

Wish October Dreams was available on Audio.

I would of course recommend several of my own Halloween books, and I don't use gore, profanity, or excessive violence. Here are the links:

    "Frightful October"

    "The Watching"

I'll post news on forthcoming releases this week.

    Paul.
