I ended up buying the first book, can see myself reading it again and bought the second book as well. I liked it A LOT!

I know some of you did not like the choice of Robert Pattinson as Edward, but being someone who knew about the movie way before I knew it was a book I think he's a really good choice. I had a picture already formed when reading the book and I could totally picture him. Too bad he has to put on an American accent though. My only thing is that I feel Edward should be more chiseled in the face, but seeing some pics from the movie it looks like Robert Pattinson pulls it off at points.

I think seeing movies before reading books makes a HUGE difference in how in how we see character portrayal. Personally if I see a movie before I read a book, I can never envision the character any other way. But if I read the book first, the actors never live up to my expectations...except for the Harry Potter films. For the most part I was very pleased with the casting. Other than Robert Pattinson, of course. For some reason I just do not like him in that role but I hope I will like him better as Edward.

I hope you are right, Mrs. Meyers. Maybe he will make a fantastic Edward. I just have a hard time with the casting since I read the books first.

That might be part of why we like them so much.

yes i think the characters being real enough that one wants to biff them on the back of the head is probably it. but it reminds me uncomfortably of my mom in my childhood yelling at her soaps"you know he's no good,he's lying to ya sweetheart" lol- i'll go purchase the third book today.

Dang...there's another chick in town who is reading these and raving about the,. I have got to find some time to read.

I think I'm going to wait until after Halloween when I've got more time on my hands.
