All at once I find
my mind is wandering
ahead to a future time


A time When burning wood smoke fills the sky
A time for Dark Shadows to slither by

A time when energy crackles in the breeze
A time for dancing falling leaves

A time when night seems deathly still
A time for the cold crisp winds of chill

A time when grinning pumpkins light the night
A time for dark delicious fright

A time when shadows fly across the moon
A time for a creepy ethereal tune

A time When Ghosts and creatures arrive on the scene
A time for My long awaited Halloween

I'm sure I don't need to tell you how excited I was to find this here this morning, Spookyboo. You make me want to wish away the rest of May-August, hehehe....THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!

Your so very welcome Laurie!...I am sure its a well known fact by now that I arrived from another forum. Last year we had this wonderful poem thread going and we tried to post a poem a day until Halloween. I am happy to say I was able to contribute quite a few along with the other very talented posters.. Laurie was able to post most of our work here. If anyone wants to join me please start leaving your works on this thread and lets see if we can make it a poem a day all the way until Halloween!
This next piece is for you to sing....hope you like it Laurie LOL

H is for Happy Halloween my Dear
A is for all the Ghosts and Ghouls I fear
L is for Laughing dancing demented clowns
L is for Lovely Horrid Screaming sounds
O is for Oh how I wish Halloween night was here
W is for werewolves who are creeping near
E is for Everything the season brings
E is for Everynight the Banshee sings
N is quite necessary to watch out for all things hairy and to give these wonderful things to you.......
Halloween Oh Halloween dont you know I love it I cant get enought of it and I think that you will love it too......

You mean, it's for me to belt out and break windows too, right? Hehehe...the kids could sing this better than I, I'm sure! We'll give it a go today.

Not sure How I feel about this one....

October night
what a fright
a ghoulish site
with all my might
I need to fight
to light my light
and hold on tight
to my imaginations

If I let them run
It might be fun
but it cant be done
for I am just one
I have no gun
it wont be won
to fight a ton
of my ruminations

So here I go
I have to show
no need to row
just keep low
my light in tow
I wont go slow
Because I know
whats in the illuminations

If I were you, I'd be very proud of all of them! One of the things that impresses me so about your work Spookyboo, is the many different styles of verse you are comfortable using for your poetry.

Keep goin', my friend!! I'm gonna try my best to muster up a few lines of something good to toss in here too.

Should I feel guilty, in this gorgeous Spring
that my mind is focused on just one thing,
That in the midst of lilacs and green,
all I can think of is.....Halloween?

Twas dark and storming in my soul
for my dreams had not come to be
I wished it would be forever Halloween
it did not work I could plainly see

I raged, I screamed and I cried
but time kept flowing day after day
I begged and I bellowed into the night
I pleaded until there were no words left to say

Time flew by as I sat in my funk
my tears pooled at my feet
was it so bad to answer my prayer
all I wanted was to trick or treat

My sadness went on unabated
my mind working to solve the riddle
I schemed and I planned to attain my goal
but everything I tried proved to late to little

Finally I found I had to admit defeat
my idea was folly the truth had been seen
As I mustered my courage to call it quits
I suddenly realized it was again Halloween

When the circus came to town
I thought I would sneak a peak
I boldly lifted the tent flap
but the light there was very weak

I could barely make out a shape
sitting there in the dark
all I could see were eyes
and I was their only mark

a sinister laugh destroyed the silence
as the Shape became quite clear
the twisted smile of a clown
caused me to shake with fear

The clown then moved closer
I wanted to run but felt frozen to the spot
with a crooked finger he bade me closer
I knew that I dare not

He never said a word
just reached into a bag
he brought out something wrapped up
in what looked like a rag

he opened it very slowly
and gave me a chilling grin
and pretended to be amazed
by what lay within

Then he showed it to me
and much to my surprise
I saw a red clown nose
he held it like a prize

He did a little dance
and twirled strangely about
he was suddenly next to me
before I could run out

quicker than I could imagine
he popped it on my nose
I felt a weird stirring
from my head down to my toes

The clown began laughing
with a sickening sneer
the laughing got louder
it was all that I could hear

I tried to take the nose off
It strangely caused me pain
no amount of pulling could move it
all my efforts were in vain

My vision became blurry
I nearly then fell down
and when finally I could focus
to my horror I had become a clown

I dream,
and in this dream I fly
on a broom
through a cloudless sky.
And down below
I see the light
of Jack O' Lanterns
shining bright.
And hear the sound
of little feet,
and voices crying
"Trick or Treat!"
