shimmering silent gliding through the night
no one guessed at their portent
bringing darkness and judgement over the land
touching every soul as they went

    luminescent specter ethereal delight
to whom have these denziens been sent
the cause of their search hides in the dark
hoping to throw off the scent

    foreshadowed forelon desolate he
having lost all anger to vent
in folly tis true he could not escape fate
so his finding and death he did not prevent
Wild winds thalt shall blow Carry away my saddened soul Tis the time of judgment

    Vibrant leaves lend romantic tones
Dew glistens from a spider's snare
    Eerie fog covers hauntyard bones
Jack'o'lanterns smile, no worse for wear

    (You can see its beauty....)

Cat with emerald eyes and a silky black coat
Weathered surface of an old grave marker
Cragged, branches of a creepy, gnarled oak
Breeze playing against skin as the sky grows darker

    (feel its mystery,)

Juicy red apple with a warm caramel topping
Hot cup of cider combatting cold, frosty air
Until the chocolate is gone, no signs of stopping
Steaming funnel cakes from the county state fair

    (sample its delicious tastes,)

On T.V., screams of terror and Hollywood gore
A curious owl stationed in a nearby tree
Excited costumed visitors at the front door
Candy bandits take their loot and exit with glee

    (enjoy its most inviting sounds,)

Fireplace smoke escapes over rolling hills
Houses fragrant with sweet scented oil
Pumpkin pie cooling on a windowsill
Cedar and pine aromas in the Earth's damp soil

(and experience the smells that make you come alive....)

Halloween will forever remain the purest seduction of the senses.

Wonderful imagery Laurie "clapping very vigorously"

Very small one tonight....a bit tired from working..

    silently creeping
    stealthily leaping
    from grave to grave
    mournfully weeping
    steadily seeking
    someone to enslave
    eerily appearing
    clumsily stealing
    the soul he did crave
Wild winds thalt shall blow Carry away my saddened soul Tis the time of judgment

If you go out in the dark woods tonight
youre sure of a big surprise
if you go out in the dark woods tonight
    you had better be wise

for every vampire that ever there was
will gather in there for certain because
Tonights the night the vampires have thier picnic

Its Picnic time for vampires in their lairs
hungry vampires are having a bloody time tonight
Watch them but dont let them catch you anawares
see them picnic its a bloody sight
see them drink blood and fly about
they love to bite and to rip victims throats out
    and never have any cares
At 6:00am their victims are all dead
and then they fly home to go to their bed
because their full and tired vampires

If you go out in the dark woods tonight
youre sure of a big surprise
if you go out in the dark woods tonight
    you had better be wise

for every vampire that ever there was

Glad you liked that.....and now something new....I started a little short story instead of a poem...I will add to everyday and I will ask you questions as to how I proceed....here is the first part

The light from my candle flickered madly with the trembling of my hand. Instead of dispelling the darkness it only set the shadows to dancing. Peering into the corners with wild eyes I desperately tried to distinguish if any of the shadows had substance. My imagination conjoured up every kind of monster and evil thing that could be lurking there just inside the darkness
waiting to attack. I could hear my heart beat drumming in my ears and I willed myself to calm down. Then, I heard a scuffling noise and nearly screamed!, but I realized it was only my own feet on the worn floorboards. Making my way, cautiously keeping my back to the wall and listening for any new noises, I moved closer to what I hoped was a way out. The wall stopped at an opening, to what I didnt know, the glow of the candle made a scant circle on the floor and I could see nothing beyond it.
I couldnt swallow my throat had gone dry. I didnt know what waited for me silently biding its time waiting for me to come closer, the only thing I knew for certain was that I was in mortal danger.

Do I go through the opening or keep moving in the room I am in?
