Life
Day dawn breaks
And wakes the world;
From so short a fitfull nap;
And brings new life,
A chance to play
And start yet once again.

But all too soon
The night will come;
And strangle all
The life there was

Unorthodox, you have a great talent also, all of you keep up the good work, I haven't written poetry in so long, don't remember when. I can't imagine being anywhere that good!

There is a house
in every town
that no one wants
to go around.

In the yard
the weeds grow tall
and paint is peeling,
just watch it fall.

And in the windows
something waits
and no one goes
beyond the gate.

This Halloween night
we all are out
to turn a trick
and play about,

and at last we come
upon that house
and Polly dares me
and calls me a mouse

and says that I
will not go there
because, she says,
I would not dare.

"Oh yes!" I cry,
"I will, you'll see
and none of you
no,only me

would be so brave
as to ring that bell
to see what in
that house does dwell!"

So down the street
and to the gate
my trembling feet
walk to my fate.

The gate creaks open
and look! just there!
I saw a woman
with deathly stare

look down at me
from window high,
but I keep going
I dare not cry.

For my friends are watching
I must be brave
I feel a chill
like an open grave

as the trees start moaning
and I forward stumble
I hear the house!
It begins to mumble:

"Go back, foolish girl,
go back right now!"
But I can't return
I took a vow

to ring that bell
so all could hear
the night is calm
and cool and clear

and they are waiting
listening, near.
I wonder if they
can hear my fear?

Now up the steps
I slowly creak
and cross the porch
into the streak

of light that shines
from the hall beyond:
if I ring the bell
what will respond?

My fingers shake
as I pull the bell
and then I turn
and run like hell

and keep on running
and so do not hear
the frail voice cry
"Don't want your candy, dear?"

Oh, WHEW!! ...but I feel bad she missed out on some treats after all that bravery.. Awesome you guys, wow!...I'm lagging behind already, hehehe--but I have a couple in the works to finish soon as I get the kids to bed tonight. Keep goin', keep goin'....I stay excited about seeing what will show up next in here now!
