Nightmare
I cannot fight the torture of sleep any longer
The demons who want me here are so much stronger
My host, in red and brown stripe, waits under a stormy sky
Merciless enjoyment lighting his murderous, ravaged eyes
Please
Heart furiously pounding, my eyes dart in his sharp claw's direction
Blood drains from my face over the murky water's reflection
Masked and steady, a shiny long machete by his side
From the lakeshore he comes for me, with self-assured strides
Don't
Thick woods blanketed by silver moonlight are my only choice
But the flight for my life is cut short by a gravelly voice
Hiding, I listen- his glutteral sounds of frustration are near
Frustration that turns to laughter as his chainsaw's spark rages clear
Hurt
Blindly panicked, with burning lungs, I race for my salvation
Toward anything that will save me from my mind's creation
And suddenly he steps before me- the biggest reason to be afraid
With a ghostly white face, his grip tightens around his butcher's blade
Me
Gasping for air, I bolt upright in the sweat-soaked bed
Terrorized by all the frenzy just inside my own head
Please God, help me--because for all my mind has just seen,
Do I dare face what is patiently waiting for me this Halloween?

I wait, I watch, I wonder.
I hear the rain, I smell the thunder.
The lighting cracks, I see a shape
Can those be wings, or just his cape?
I wail, I writhe, I weep.
How did I fall in love this deep?
With such as he, so pale, so dark
with blood red lips...but listen, hark!
In the hall...surely that's the sound
of rustling wings, not feet on ground!
Suddenly through the door he flies
And swoops to cover me where I lie
Enchained, entranced, entombed.
I know I'll never leave this room,
At least not in the light of day,
My will no longer mine, but in his sway.
I feel his lips! So tender, soft, and sweet.
Then sudden burning ecstasy as his teeth
join with my flesh, and blood runs warm
across my shoulder, down my arm.
We join as one, our love burns bright
Then off we fly into the night.
Together now, just he and me,
Together for....eternity.

Freedom
My words, my swords fly freely now,
Responding to your mocking vow;
With my fire will I light your soul,
if you block me from my goal.
Our fate comes clearly unto me,
All that you must do is see.
Future is in your hands today,
Do with it what you may.
You've taught my now how not to care;
And left me here to face the bear,
You did it in your evil way,
All now I can do is pray.
Pray that I of you forgive,
Pray that I once more will live.
You refuse to answer me,
But now you left me to be free.
Free from ever seeking friend;
Free from another bitter end.
Free to live and free to die;
Free not to give, and not to try.
No more to try to be a friend;
No more to try, or have to bend.
No more will I need you near;
No more to feel, or cry a tear.

!!! My jaw is dropped here, I cannot believe this!! You guys have crazy, gifted talent!!!
I mean, seriously.....
Well, I decided last night to round out my opening tribute to my favorite Halloween icons by writing about my very favorite, but Hooch--Lord woman, after reading your masterpiece I'm almost embarrassed to follow it...guess I'll still throw it out here though because I'm inspired to keep contributing--looks like you and I were preoccupied with thoughts of the same man last night, hehehe....
Darkness swallows the land
My senses erupt into fire
For thirteen nights he has come to me
Silent intensity building our desire
Always appearing from thin air
He is the perfect vision at my door
My dark lord confidently awaits
Invitation to cross my bedroom floor
His strong, graceful frame towers mine
Chiseled features, hair the shade of coal
Flowing black cape lined in crimson
Piercing eyes see every corner of my soul
Tonight I will resist him no longer
He has forever known I belong to him
Slowly he closes the distance between us
Using the tenderest touch, he lifts my chin
Acceptance is sealed with a fevered kiss
As I bare my neck for the unknown
His fangs pierce my goosebumped flesh
A world of beauty I am shown
Soft moans prove his intoxication
His skin is heated with pleasure
Tears of joy spill down my cheeks
Over this powerful new love to treasure
Remaining shadows allow our passionate embrace
Now I curse the encroaching daybreak
For the hours of bitter loneliness to fill
Until his next visit soothes my heartache

WOW! You ladies really have a thing for the handsome creature of the night, huh?
Both poems are outstanding!
Hooch, I felt a little naughty reading your poem.
AWESOME!!!
Laurie, you never struck me as a big Dracula fan. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion because he's been a favorite of mine since I was a kid! Great work!
You ladies really have some serious talent! I'm eagerly awaiting some more of your work!
UnOrthodOx - I want to meet the woman that messed you up!
(I'm just kidding. That's just one of my favorite lines from The Last Boyscout.) Another powerful poem my friend! It's not fair that the ladies have a handsome villain to write about, but there are no seductive villain-esses that I can think of for you to write about. Witches are old hags and usually very disgusting. An attractive witch just doesn't fit the bill.
If you all don't mind, I'd like tap your talents. Our evite the last 3 years has been the same poem that I pieced together from online material and a little of my own limited poetic creativity, but I'd love to try something fresh this year and personalize it a little more. Would any of you be willing to assist in the not too distant future? I'll give you as much material as I can. You guys are just wonderfully talented and I'd be crazy not to ask since I have the need.

Well, what girl in her right Halloween mind wouldn't be more than a little impressed with the prowess and style of Dracula himself?

I am personally honored that you would like our help with your party e-vites. I would gladly assist you any way that I can.

Oh, I don't know. Nothing wrong with seductive witches.
Poetic invitations eh? Be happy to help if I can.
Here's one that used to creep me out as a kid. Though, it's not quite the same without my grandmother reading it...
LITTLE ORPHANT ANNIE
by: James Whitcomb Riley (1849-1916)
LITTLE Orphant Annie's come to our house to stay,
An' wash the cups an' saucers up, an' brush the crumbs away,
An' shoo the chickens off the porch, an' dust the hearth, an' sweep,
An' make the fire, an' bake the bread, an' earn her board-an'-keep;
An' all us other childern, when the supper-things is done,
We set around the kitchen fire an' has the mostest fun
A-list'nin' to the witch-tales 'at Annie tells about,
An' the Gobble-uns 'at gits you
Ef you
Don't
Watch
Out!
Wunst they wuz a little boy wouldn't say his prayers,--
An' when he went to bed at night, away up-stairs,
His Mammy heerd him holler, an' his Daddy heerd him bawl,
An' when they turn't the kivvers down, he wuzn't there at all!
An' they seeked him in the rafter-room, an' cubby-hole, an' press,
An' seeked him up the chimbly-flue, an' ever'-wheres, I guess;
But all they ever found wuz thist his pants an' roundabout:--
An' the Gobble-uns 'll git you
Ef you
Don't
Watch
Out!
An' one time a little girl 'ud allus laugh an' grin,
An' make fun of ever' one, an' all her blood-an'-kin;
An' wunst, when they was "company," an' ole folks wuz there,
She mocked 'em an' shocked 'em, an' said she didn't care!
An' thist as she kicked her heels, an' turn't to run an' hide,
They wuz two great big Black Things a-standin' by her side,
An' they snatched her through the ceilin' 'fore she knowed what she's about!
An' the Gobble-uns 'll git you
Ef you
Don't
Watch
Out!
An' little Orphant Annie says, when the blaze is blue,
An' the lamp-wick sputters, an' the wind goes woo-oo!
An' you hear the crickets quit, an' the moon is gray,
An' the lightnin'-bugs in dew is all squenched away,--
You better mind yer parunts, an' yer teachurs fond an' dear,
An' churish them 'at loves you, an' dry the orphant's tear,
An' he'p the pore an' needy ones 'at clusters all about,
Er the Gobble-uns 'll git you
Ef you
Don't
Watch
Out!

Ahem.....Witches are old hags and usually very disgusting. An attractive witch just doesn't fit the bill. uhhh have you noticed my Avatar? Bristles a bit I will just have to write a poem to prove otherwise ....
Laurie Awesome you and Mhooch are burning up the forum!!!!!
Unorthodox darkly wonderful
I thou seeks to tempt the fates
go to where the witches wait
there a woman with flowing dark hair
skin of porcelain beautiful and fair
with ample bosom she is endowed
slender hips sway beneath her shroud
Flashing eyes of translucent green
the fullest red lips you have ever seen
smiling coyly she beckons you near
her soft seductive voice gives you no fear
a breath soft and warm upon your cheek
and your anticipations leave you weak
her touch is warm soft and light
her scent perfumes the very night
with a graceful glide shes in your arms
open and waiting for your charms
her lips slightly open a clear invite
eyes half closed a wanton sight
your lips do then connect with hers
she softly moans as if she purrs
your hands gently cup her flesh
as to her desire you can surely guess
slowly descending down to the grass below
kissing passionately as you go
her body yields unto yours as if you were one
this unearthly beauty you think you have won
your voices together in climax chime
and you lose all track of space and time
as you lay there spent and weak
languidly stretching satiated and meek
your lover smiled a wicked grin
her eyes flashing with lust and sin
her very skin looked all aglow
she starts to chant her husky voice low
Winds that blow and bow the reed
thank my lover for his seed
a daughter to raise is what I desire
born to earth, water, wind and fire
what of my partner now that its done
at last some wicked witchy fun
I wish him stay close a friend indeed
to come to me whenever I need
but how to keep him forever mine
a vow he will keep till the end of time
Oh yes she whispers and gives him a pat
for he stands before her a large black catWild winds thalt shall blow Carry away my saddened soul Tis the time of judgment
