I have Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde (John Barrymore) 1920
Phantom of the Opera (Lon Chaney) 1925
    Nosferatu (Max Schreck) 1922

All pretty good. Do you have any in your collection?

Absolutely! Husband is a major movie buff and we both love old movies.

    We have Nosferatu and:

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)

    Metropolis (1927)
I know that's it is precursor to sci-fi, but it is pretty dark and could be considered suspense/drama/sci-fi... I totally love this movie and even have a repro of the movie poster in my dining room.

Still looking for the other two you mentioned. We've both watched them many times, but finding a good copy is another story.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is one I would love to add to my collection. I saw it before, very good, and a good twist of an ending.

You guys have hit the big ones but what about some lesser known gems.

The Unknown and The Magican are too of my fav silents.

I find silents to be a mixed bag, they can be very good and be full of great imagery but can run long and many times the added score is far to bombastic and lacks subtlety and nuance
You'll have money and all that money can buy.

The Call of Cthulhu made in 2005 is a silent movie, well worth watching if you like Lovecraft
