Thread: Effects/Affects of Horror Films on Society?

So, I've been thinking. Do these films actually, in any way, shape, or form affect/effect society/general public? I have two arguements in my head. Of course, they can disturb, twist and distort your way of thinking, if you are not stable enough to watch them. But of course, theres the opposing arguement, Horror films don't create psychopath's. People kill on their own actions, and have a choice whether or not to. But, there is an influence.

Sorry if I ramble, but, what are your thoughts?

Watching horror hasn't caused me any harm, I was brought up to know right from wrong. I dislike torture porn though, I think that kind of stuff can do more harm than good.

I think if a horror movie inspires you to kill or otherwise commit some evildoing, you are disturbed and would probably do it anyway.
