What does everyone think of Nightmare on Elm Street remake? I saw it back in April and enjoyed it. Jackie Earle Haley does Freddy well but no one can replace Robert Englund

I was meh about it overall, but I thought JEH did a great job as Freddy. He seemed to be a good one to pass the torch to.

It also wasn't his first role as a child molester. He was fabulously creepy & intense in Little Children.

While I LOVE Robert Englund, he is getting a little long in the tooth for the role, as are many of the original players in the original 80s horror classics, & I think he'd admit that too. You gotta pass the torch sometime, just as well to pass it on to Mr. Haley. There's always the original if you don't like the remake & that goes for a LOT of flicks, not just horror.

I wonder what they will do if they ever get around to making Freddy vs Jason part 2 if Robert or Haley will be doing the role as Freddy

I get the impression that the new NoES was a reboot of the franchise so I'd imagine there's no Jason vs Freddie in the pipeline, not for a while anyway if at all.

But then if there's money to be made there, anything is possible.

Just as long as they don't remake NoES 2, THAT was a huuuuge pile of crap.

Looks like the next NoES will be in 3D!

The final box office figures are in for this past weekend and they show that Platinum Dune’s A Nightmare On Elm Street remake grossed $32.9 million in its first three days of release – that’s just about enough to cover production costs on the new Freddy Krueger flick.

Needless to say, Warner Bros. is already looking to develop a sequel that would see Jackie Earle Haley back as the metal-clawed Krueger – and yes, there’s a good chance his next killing spree will be in 3D.

You might recall that Nightmare On Elm Street producer Brad Fuller was hesitant last week to start talking up a sequel – especially given the recent death of his Friday the 13th: Part 2 3D project. Now that his new horror remake is a hit, however, it’d probably be a safe bet to assume that Fuller will be onboard for another venture down Elm Street.

Warner Bros. distribution president Dan Fellman certainly is, having already announced that – although there is neither a story nor the beginning of a script for A Nightmare On Elm Street 2 – “[the Nightmare On Elm Street opening weekend] is the largest horror opening in the April-May corridor, and it just proves there’s a lot left in the franchise.”

I personally hated the remake. It just wasn't the same without Robert Englund, the new guy seemed closer to Hannibal Lecter than Freddy, he just didn't have the right vibe. I stopped watching about 15 minutes into it.

Really liked it. I liked how they into Freddy's life before killing. Jackie Earl Haley is amazing, but Robert Englund will always be Freddy
