I got to thinking while I was looking at my movie collections of what scary movie to watch while surfing the computer....
My thought was " What is a scary movie now days?" Most of the time it is the slasher/killer types. Whatever happen to the good old type of a scary movie where they use monsters not human killer to get us??
Remember when they started making scarying movies, there was the biggest taboo of making a scary movie that had comdey in it???
That is my thought of the day. What's yours?

i would have to agree to a certain point. stephen king's IT gave so many nightmares it was pathetic, but nothing scares like freddy, jason, and micheal either. i've got mixed feelings on the monster vs human killer but if i had to choose one of worst, it'd be freddy cause you couldn't even take a cat nap without getting killed. the movie makers have to come out with a whole new breed of horror movies cause the technologically advanced generation demands a new and improved bad guy to be afraid of.

The movie marker really need to come up with a new monster... Something that isnt HUMAN.. You know what I mean?
With the technologically we have going, surely the ideas are endless??

i'd like to see them come up with something kinda like what they did with darkness falls with a combination of IT and maybe something out of a tales from the crypt episode, something that hits the early childhood fear of the closet door being left open with a new concept that makes your bones quiver
remember it takes a twisted s.o.b. to scare the hell out of someone....................

Sometimes, the Human-type creature works well. Like in the film "Madman" the man was normal, until he snapped and murdered his family, and was hung by the community. They left him to hang, but the next morning they came to cut him down, he was gone. So its supposed that he was just a hermit in the woods for many years. That angle works great. You know hes mostly Human, and its actually frightening. By the way, Madman is a great movie. Its the first Horror Film I watched that I could not sleep after, oh and especially that creepy Madman Marz song! Besides that, there are some great "Haunted House" and "Ghost Story" films like "The Changeling", "Poltergeist", and "Burnt Offerings".

I'd like to see an amped up version of Poltergeist. That movie was top notch back in the day and a revised rated R version could take it over the top to intense.
The Exorcist is probably one of the most agreed upon as being scary by most people I would think, and there is a new Exorcist movie coming out that i'm looking forward to

I myself dont get too scared as movies have been way to predictable or just flat out remakes of old classics. But the one movie that scared me in the past was the 1980's "Don't answer the phone."
YouTube- Don't Answer The Phone 1980A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..
"The Many Faces of Fear!" New for 2012!

I agree the slasher/torture dude or dudette is getting monotonous!I like the movie giving supernatural and pyshcological fears not always seen.
My favorite, probably forgotten is the Legend of Hell House. If you get the chance give it a shot. Nice foreboding creepiness!

I can tell you the one movie that scared me to death and its not really a scary movie, but more like based on a true story was "the fire in the sky" I think it made it worse was when my father was alive, i remember him saying he remember people talking about it. Other than that I enjoy a good scary movie. The movies now days does not do it justic at all. Its all "thats not scary!"
