That's it? At 0:55, we see a woman coming out the washroom from peeing... Seem even scarier than the first one...

And I HATE THEY still need to use crappy FAKE crowd reaction... They should show how my crowd reacted during our showing.. yawning and asking when the movie will finish... and asking why was this suppose to be scary..

    Lame...

Agreed with previous "lame" comment. I thought the first movie was horrible, and not at all scary. It was boring up until the very end, and then it just got stupid. What on Earth possessed them (no pun intended) to make a sequel? Besides, didn't both characters from the first one die at the end? What is this one about, new people who moved into the house? If so, maybe those people will at least be less annoying than the previous ones, who did nothing but yell at each other throughout 3/4 of the film.

Lame is the perfect way to describe these movies.

Spiderqueen, in the theatrical end the chick gets possessed by the demon and is 'never seen again'. In the original end the cops shoot her.

They made a sequel because the first got such a big turn out. This one may flop, or be just as big, there is no real way to tell. I'm going to guess that, because it was shown before the Eclipse midnight showing, there will be hordes of 12-15 year olds that got freaked out and think it will be the perfect scary Halloween movie and flood the theaters with their friends and parents. Then they'll make a third film to round it all out.

The 'scary' part of the teaser is when the woman shows up in the doorway and the baby is mysteriously gone. So far the theory as to how the movie pans out is that the dog eventually gets killed and the baby gets possessed in the end.

The only reason Lurks and I saw the first one was because we were bored, had a free afternoon and wanted to see how bad it really was. We ended up with a group of teens that got freaked out about halfway through and spent the second half of the movie screaming at every little thing. If it aired on TV and there was nothing better to watch, I would probably have it on and halfheartedly watch it. Certainly not a film I would got out and buy.

That's right, I forgot which ending was supposed to be the "real" one. The DVD I rented (for only $1, thankfully) had two endings and I looked up the third one online. The police one was the original? They should have stuck with it because I thought it was slightly less stupid than the other two. None of them were good enough to justify how boring the rest of it was, however. I at first thought the movie might be good because I'd heard people talking about how scary it was, but considering how the trailer had nothing scary in it except loud, unexpected noises, and then when bad reviews started pouring it saying it was dumb, I lowered my expectations. And I was STILL disappointed.

I will say, for the budget, they did a great job for what it is. Yes, the story is lame, but decent for what they had. no real actors, no budget and one carema. For that, I do respect it for.

What I hate the most is the fake crowds reaction comercials, the over hyped of it by the idiot inducing media and today "lemming ratiional thinking of North American society" thinking this is very truly scary stuff.

Exemple : If it's on TV or the news, it must be good!!! The media told me so!!! I love it now!!!
    Durp!!! Durpy Durp!!! (end rant..)

I don't think the reactions shown in the trailer were 'faked' so much as they were people's reactions to the same scene, just from different viewings. Honestly after watching the film, I figured that all the trailer scenes of people jumping and screaming came from the theatrical ending with her lunging at the camera. Predictable, but people still fall for it. Showing different crowds reacting to the same scene makes it appear scarier and draws a larger audience.

I applaud their advertising efforts and the way they managed to hype up the film, and they did well with what they had to work with, but none of that makes it a good horror film. Plenty of bad movies get a lot of attention, and a lot of good movies get skimmed over.
If Paranormal Activity had been released early in the year, say February, March or April, then it would have gotten terrible reviews and far fewer people would have seen it. Releasing a thriller, horror or generally scary film between September and November get a better box office turn out because people are in the mood for scary movies and critical reviews tend to be seasonally biased.

I have mixed feelings about this film. There were parts, or pieces in the middle, that I honestly enjoyed and got a thrill out of. However, there were an equal number of groans/eye rolling things that happen which just took me right out of the mood.
