Lord knows I will hate it, but I will go see it anyway with an open mind. I will like most remakes, curse myself leaving the theatre for spending money on that waste of time and crappy remake. I will go home, see the original version of the movie to get rid of that awful taste in my mouth and later go on the internet, seeing tons of people praising it as a masterpeice of horror as Paranormal Activity as I start bashing my keyboard on my skull.
Or...or.. I might actuallty like it, go on the internet, post how good it was, and make someone else see my comments and they start to bash their own skull with their keyboard...
But probebly the first option, after seeing the commercials for it..

In my opinion, the number of Horror remakes that are worthwhile can be counted on one hand -
The Fly, The Thing, Night of the Living Dead come to mind...
I count these as "flukes", for the simple fact that the majority of remakes are just a waste of time, but somehow these are not only good, but in some cases, better then the original.
Now, that having been said...
I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised last night, keep in mind that I went into this with very low expectations. I was afraid that I was going to see just another shot-for-shot remake, ( a la psycho - *shudder!*) because that is the vibe I got from the trailers. I'm happy to say that this isn't the case, granted - there are a few scenes that give nods to the original, but they don't play out the same way. The basic story is intact, but we get a little more of it, and a pretty cool "twist" that keeps you guessing (more or less) until the end...
And Haley doesn't do too shabby of a job as Freddy, he's no Englund by a long shot, but I found that I didn't mind him as Freddy as much as I thought I would. And he's CREEPY...!! In this remake we get the original depraved child molester that you're supposed to loathe back, none of this Henny Youngman garbage that made the franchise after the 3rd one hard for me to watch -
And the inclusion of up to date sleep deprivation findings, like micro-naps, made the whole thing just seem a bit more plausible. All in all I don't think fans will be all that disappointed with it, although I know the haters have gotta' hate, so don't expect to hear too much praise from the peanut gallery that is the mainstream crowd...

who understands without question,

Most reviews from my local newspapers gave it a 1 out of 5... Not promising.. Wait to see what more people here have to say.
I just checked out rottentomatoes 15% approval out of 85 people... other sites... very similar... not good...

No one but Englund is Freddy. Freddy is a Iconic cherector. I do not think any one can recreate a film that so meny people view as a masterpiece. So I am not having much faith in this picture. Nothing but the original can suffice.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.
