I love John Carpenters Halloween, I wasn't impressed with Rob Zombies remake.
The originals ominous soundtrack, storyline and cast made the movie so good. It's one of those films that sticks with you.
I found the rape scene in Zombies version was pointless to the story, I also didn't like the way the Myers family were portrayed as an unlikeable white trash family. Michael being abused giving reason to how he ended up being a killer.
In the original Michael came from a nice middle class family, which I think made his character even more sinister, because you wonder why.. such a sweet looking little boy turns into something so evil. It gives the whole movie more mystique.
I didn't think this movie needed remaking, Carpenters will always be a iconic Halloween night classic.

100% agree! i also think RZ had way too much power on the remake. i believe that a more experienced Director like a Marcus Nispel or someone in that vein could've gave it a fresh start with as just a scary impact into today's cinema.
RZ's remake was bad, but his sequel was 10x worse!

Absolutely love Carpenter's original and Zombie's take has grown on me (after really hating both 1 and 2 initially).
I like all the movies, but I have a real soft spot for part 4: The Return of Michael Myers.

The thing that makes Michael so freaky is that he is so calm and methodical at times, then at others he's vicious. at other times, it seems like he tries to understand what hes doing.
It doesn't matter what you think, we're gonna do it anyway!

That particular copy of the "Nightmare" in your avatar pic is easily one of my favorite masks ever. Are you the owner of that guy?

Love the original Halloween movies. Next to the Elm Street franchise, this is my second favorite horror series.
“Do you know the terror of he who falls asleep? To the very toes he is terrified, because the ground gives way under him, and the dream begins.”

It's ok but is his invulnerability ever explained? Most killers in horror movies seem to be inhuman without any explanation at all and while this is the norm I would still like to know why.
