I know everyone loves Rick, but he has consistently made some stupid decisions as leader.

    SPOILERS

After Father Gabriel is kidnapped by the trash people, Rick and the others meet them for the first time. These scavengers look and talk (who, apparently, can't even speak in complete sentences! -- after only what two or three years at this point?) like rejects from Mad Max central casting. Rick makes a deal to bring them a lot of guns.

After finding guns (what, maybe two weeks later?), Rick brings them to the trash people's leader, and she asks: "Are they operational?" rather than "Guns work-work?" Yet somehow this sudden Hooked-on-Phonics-like improvement in their apparent literacy doesn't raise any red-flags for Rick?

And then he invites them, a bunch of now heavily-armed strangers, inside Alexandria's walls?

    *face-palm*

They're just Red Shirts for the upcoming all out war & now that they've betrayed The Grimes Gang we'll be glad to see them die. That's their purpose & Oceanside's purpose, to be Red Shirts in the war.

Oh we may get one or 2 new characters out of them, but they're just grist for the mill.

Sure, I understand all that in terms of the show's plotting and story arcs, but it's just incredibly frustrating to watch Rick's poor leadership. How many times now has his overconfidence in his abilities nearly gotten everyone killed?

I think he was looking for numbers since they are seriously out numbered. If you think about it, the strain of that kind of responsibility would be hard for anyone to deal with. I think its meant to be like that though. Rick's group can't keep winning or there's no story, so he has to fail some of the time. Its how it would be if this sort of scenario was possible IRL.

I like zombies a lot, and this is a great show, a modern classic.
