"Dead of Night" (1945).
A British film made by the Ealing studio's, more famous for their comedies.
The film is a collection of tales, linked by a central theme...the forerunner of movies in the old Amicus format like "Creepshow" , "Tales from the Crypt" and of course "Trick r Treat"
Although extremely tame by todays standards, it remains a genuinely eerie and unsettling film and caused me more than a few lost hours of sleep when I was a child.
