Roger really: The endings of Paranormal Activity
ok the version I saw was the cop ending, but I heard the ending they're showing at the cinema is much better. I didn't find this movie scary, but I did find it entertaining.

I hadn't heard anything about this movie up until the past couple of days. Now I'm kinda jazzed to go see it. We'll see if I have time though.

Watched this movie over the weekend with Lurks.
I don't feel it was what it was hyped up to be.
A lot of the camera moments didn't make sense, especially the odd jumps in footage. I also didn't like how their actions played into keeping them in the house when any other person would have been several states away. (Yes, I know, filmed in the director's house, very little budget, yada yada.)
The effects were simple but neat and I liked how a lot of them were performed. Pulling her out of bed was kinda cool. It gave a sense of the demon not really wanting to get caught, then choosing to have fun instead. The foot prints weren't as played out as I thought they should have been, along with many other parts of the film such as the Ouija board message.
I am not a fan of the end. I have seen the Sundance ending and I like that a lot better. The theatrical ending just seems to campy and played to get the audience.
Overall the film was okay and enjoyable as something to watch. A nice change of pace, but not a Horror film. Suspense or maybe even Thriller, but not a Horror in my book. I don't plan on buying it, but if I see it playing on TV, I may watch it. Maybe a second viewing may give it a new light, or I may just be bitter and judgmental about films that are supposed to be scary.
Side Note: While there were a little over a dozen people in the theater with us, the freak out row was right behind us and comprised of 13 yr old girls hyperventilating, sobbing and squealing throughout the last half of the film. They were the first out of the theater (due to their quick sprint away from the scariness of the end credits) and were quietly ridiculed by everyone who was in earshot of them during the movie....somewhere in the north-woods darkness, a creature walks upright.
And the best advice you may ever get is never to go out…at night.

I watched the alternate online as well after seeing the theater version. I preferred the theater ending to the alternate but the alternate also had different scenes in it. Like when she called her dad after finding the pic, that wasn't in the theater version, I don't remember being able to hear it say her name in the theater either. I listened with headphones which also added to the scare factor. I heard things I couldn't hear in the theater but what I thought would happen did....it lost it's effect. The only thing that changed was how much I hated Micha....it increased greatly...lol.
I have to give the online version credit for one thing. The thump you hear right before they go downstairs and the chandelier was rocking made me jump(on the inside...lol). I let hubby listen to it and he said the same thing. I think headphones really do increase the scare factor...you're hearing everything...lol"Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says,"Oh Crap, She's up!"

Yeah I found it creepy when it said her name. I was watching the Entity on tv the other night and the scene near the end where you hear the incubus say "welcome home c..t" was creepy like that too.
I love paranormal movies. I posted a thread about a movie called the Echo I really enjoyed that movie it's spooky too. Hopefully 2010 will bring us some more good ones.

I thought it was amazing!! This is how a horror movie should be done. I hope Hollywood were taking notes!
I have to agree with hannibal about these two points:
Me and my fiance both giggled when she was dragged from the bed. Only that exact moment though. I thought the dragging on the floor was quite creepy, and well done.
Micah should have respected the fact that his girlfriend was clearly terrified by the events, especially since she had experiences in the past, so he was in the wrong for sure!
Gets a rating of 9/10 from me. Loses a point for those 2 factors!
I'll definitely be buying it on Blu-Ray! I hope the time flies by!!
Concerning to multiple endings, after searching a couple of websites, I know for definite there are 3 endings, though the one that was only used once for a screening apparently isn't available anywhere. I have seen the other one(thank you internet!) and the theatrical one. I have to say I prefer the original ending by far! It is much more effective, in my opinion, and a great way to end. Hopefully upon DVD/Blu-Ray release, we will get all of them. Fingers crossed.

Saw it with the wife a few weeks ago, we both hated it. I don't find this kind of movie scary what so ever. Slow, Bland, bad acting and knew the best part of the movie was shown in the tv commercial that of course was the ending "I knew it was going to be it by simple commen sence". This is my opinion and I stand by it. See Drag me to hell or the Unborn if you want to see a good horror this year.
