This trailer didn't take his personality into account at all when they showed his history. Freddy knew he had gotten away with murder (literally) and was smug and arrogent about it. Even as they burned him alive he didn't even care. He knew he'd be back. When was Freddy ever a whimpering coward unless he had a trick up his sleeve? The only time I've ever seen him show fear as an emotion was again in Final nightmare only to prey upon his Daughter.
If they were going to have a remake, why didn't they review the movies/shows/books/general story line so that nerds like me would be satesfied. It's the same thing I've been struggling with with all the other remakes/comic movies out there. They know nerds are going to be the ones wanting to see it the most, why not do it right? Why do they always just throw something together half-heartedly and slap the orginal title on it just to make a quick buck? If they absolutely wanted a remake or some kind of continuation hell they could've based the movie off of the Nightmare book series that are still in circulation somewhere. Christ those were decently written and would've made great movies.
I probably stopped watching the series after the 2nd or 3rd one so I didn't know the story had been told. I still stand by my statement in saying it will be awesome to see it told in an up to date version. i always thought Freddy could be way scarier than what he was. Robert did an excellent job playing Freddy but I'd love to see a modern version and I am looking forward to this.
I thought I was going to hate Rob Zombie's version of Halloween. I wound up loving it. It is possible to remake a movie and have a good outcome.
