I LOVED the Nightmare movies when I was growing up. First 3 anyway....after that I felt like they were the same old tired story line. I agree with whoever said it's about time to tell Freddy's story and I'm excited to see how this turns out, although I may not see it in the theaters but rarely do these days (too much $$).

And of course as Freddy's story, you couldn't very well have Englund playing the younger him now could ya... Even the Englund voice would not have fit properly.
It's Halloween, what more do you need to know.

This trailer didn't take his personality into account at all when they showed his history. Freddy knew he had gotten away with murder (literally) and was smug and arrogent about it. Even as they burned him alive he didn't even care. He knew he'd be back. When was Freddy ever a whimpering coward unless he had a trick up his sleeve? The only time I've ever seen him show fear as an emotion was again in Final nightmare only to prey upon his Daughter.

If they were going to have a remake, why didn't they review the movies/shows/books/general story line so that nerds like me would be satesfied. It's the same thing I've been struggling with with all the other remakes/comic movies out there. They know nerds are going to be the ones wanting to see it the most, why not do it right? Why do they always just throw something together half-heartedly and slap the orginal title on it just to make a quick buck? If they absolutely wanted a remake or some kind of continuation hell they could've based the movie off of the Nightmare book series that are still in circulation somewhere. Christ those were decently written and would've made great movies.
I probably stopped watching the series after the 2nd or 3rd one so I didn't know the story had been told. I still stand by my statement in saying it will be awesome to see it told in an up to date version. i always thought Freddy could be way scarier than what he was. Robert did an excellent job playing Freddy but I'd love to see a modern version and I am looking forward to this.

I thought I was going to hate Rob Zombie's version of Halloween. I wound up loving it. It is possible to remake a movie and have a good outcome.

Only Robert England can play Freddy. I refuse to see this movie because England is not in it. It is like having anyone but Lenord Nemoy be Spock. Only the original can pull it off. No one on earth but Robert England is Freddy.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

I don't understand what's up with his make up, it looks like a mask and that in turn makes his voice sound like Elmer fudd. I hate the way his personality is portrayed, bland when he's actually the Freddy we know and cowardly before hand....
I see. I guess personally I couldn't pull that much about the new movie from the 2 minute trailer. To me, Freddy's key niche is how he plays with his victims, and those infamous whitey lines. If he misses his mark on that part of the character, then I think I will be in the same boat on disliking him. But until I actually get to see the movie I hope for the best that he pulls off a good show.

When I watched Watchmen I thought it got off to kind of a slow start, and I wasn't really getting the Rarshack character. My initial impression was that he was just this little squirly punk that thinks he can kick anyones butt. But as the movie went on, I was just darn impressed at how good this character was played. Soon I was on the edge of my seat waiting for him to exact a little revenge.
