I'm a long time Depp fan, and a fan of POTC & LOTR. Those had amazing special effects, but huge budgets.

Thats really funny about the cheese, I never heard that one before. But I'm not a fan, so its not surprising. lol

I'll admit the effects weren't PERFECT but hey they were effective and that was a scary movie! I remember Savini talking about him and Romero adding random crap to fake corpses and using a shot gun to blow it up. People seem to think if they spend a crap load of money on a movie that's what the public will want to see. That's not always the case. Look at Blair Witch Project. Not the greatest of movies, but they had a what 20 buck budget? And look how effective it was! All that hype earned them a heck of a lot of money that wasn't wasted on the movie itself. Simple and veeeeeeeeerry effective

It looked alright, asside from Freddy's face and his voice.
But, what do you expect from a Michael Bay film.

The new guy that is replacing robert england is a great selection. He always plays disturbing, creepy, dirty roles. Sure he doesn't sound just like robert england's freddy krueger, but I am always for a remake of a classic when new ideas are brought forth. There is only so many ways you can sequel something, using all the same core basics. Was Heath Ledger's Joker the same as Jack Nichloson's Joker? Heck no! They each brought their own twisted reality of the character to life and we loved both of them.

So lets give this guy a chance. My huntch is that he is going to make a great Freddy Krueger.

And on that note, still love Robert England. He has been really turning B-rated movies to gold. Jack Brookes Monster Slayer - Great movie, and England did an amazing job in it.

I'm not pissed that he doesn't sound like Robert I'm pissed that he sounds like Elmer Fudd and is a whimpering coward: something Freddy NEVER was.

yes and I really wasn't much of a fan of it. I know he can be a good actor, and I'm not doubting his ability to be Freddy, I'm pissed about how Freddy is written for him to look sound and act. I don't understand what's up with his make up, it looks like a mask and that in turn makes his voice sound like Elmer fudd. I hate the way his personality is portrayed, bland when he's actually the Freddy we know and cowardly before hand....
