I want to cry....that looked horrible!!!! That was not Freddy one friggen bit!!!!! The voice, the actions even before the murder when he was RUNNING!? WTF!?
"What do you think I did I didn't do anything!"
What!? Freddy wasn't like that, he was a smug arrogent b*st*rd because he knew he got away with it and when he was all comfortable in his boiler room, the parents surpised him and fried him to death.
Just ARRRRRGH! I feel so angry now! I was excited when I saw the concept design. THAT looked decent. Not to mention the voice fit pretty will....Freddy here sounds vaguly of Elmer Fudd wtf!?

Awesome.....love that they finally give freddy his backstory. I always wanted to see how it happened not just hear the story.

I'm sorry but that is just utter ****. The whole feel of the original film is lost. The makeup looks like ****. they totally fucked up the storyline. Why cant Hollywood come up with NEW ideas?

I will probably end of seeing this but it doesn't look that great...I mean they really can't replace Robert and the make up just looks really bad..lol

I agree.
I'm not a huge huge fan of the original series, I like one or two of the movies and a few moments in the series. But I hated how funny he became.
This trailer looked somewhat alright, until they showed Freddy and I heard his voice. He looks and sounds horrible.
A bit of news on BD stated that its not the final voice and its not the final makeup on his face...but if the film is finished filming, and they don't plan on doing voice overs and his makeup isn't all CGI, how do they plan on fixing all this? LOL

ugh that's a thought....cgi over everything like they do to every other movie in existance now. Has everyone in Hollywood forgotten how good old school Tom Savini prosthetics look? (not saying Savini did the make up for the original Nightmare on Elm street, but his techniques were deff. superior to most cgi out there, with few exceptions)
If they weren't done with it....why have a trailer until they worked out all the kinks?

They showed it already in Freddy's Dead the Final Nightmare when Kathrine/Maggie went into his head and saw his past. It showed him growing up and finalied with his murder by the townsfolk of Springwood and him gaining power from dream demons so could exact his revenge.
This trailer didn't take his personality into account at all when they showed his history. Freddy knew he had gotten away with murder (literally) and was smug and arrogent about it. Even as they burned him alive he didn't even care. He knew he'd be back. When was Freddy ever a whimpering coward unless he had a trick up his sleeve? The only time I've ever seen him show fear as an emotion was again in Final nightmare only to prey upon his Daughter.
If they were going to have a remake, why didn't they review the movies/shows/books/general story line so that nerds like me would be satesfied. It's the same thing I've been struggling with with all the other remakes/comic movies out there. They know nerds are going to be the ones wanting to see it the most, why not do it right? Why do they always just throw something together half-heartedly and slap the orginal title on it just to make a quick buck? If they absolutely wanted a remake or some kind of continuation hell they could've based the movie off of the Nightmare book series that are still in circulation somewhere. Christ those were decently written and would've made great movies.

I love Savini's work on the Friday The 13th series as well as in The Burning. There are so many amazing realistic things they can do with makeup. CGI can be cool for some movies with a HUGE budget...but tend to fall flat in horror movies - for me at least.
My only guess on releasing the trailer so early, was to get reaction from fans. See what they thought. But do they really care about us fans to change anything now? LOL

Yeah I'm not downing CGI for bigger movies because....well....Cgi was absolutely amazing in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. I've never seen a more spectacular use.
In Horror, I've found that if it's used in moderation it's not bad at all. Like in Shaun of the Dead. The small cgi pieces blended perfectly because they didn't try to over-do it. There are so many ways artists can make convincing scenes without expensive cgi. A little Latex, some makeup and stage blood and that's all you really need. I mean come on, Tom Savini originally used the Craft Service food in the original Dawn of the dead for effects. I think they used nachocheese for some of the wounds and such and those looked great.
