This comes as a shock to me (I don't know why at the state of things....) but I found out that Mtv, the same a-holes responsible for dumbing down america with shows like "The Hills" and "The Real World" is actually remaking The Rocky Horror Picture Show!

    The cast so far:
    Marilyn Manson as Franknfurter
Zac Efron (High school Musical) as Brad Majors
    Lindsay Lohan as Magenta
    Paris Hilton as Columbia

I'm sorry but I think they've just gone way too far with this one. Rocky Horror, REALLY????

If you're as upset as I am about it...there's a petition online to send to mtv....if they'll listen :/

If you actually are okay with the remake...then idunno....post something about it too...I was trying to make people aware of this...for good or bad.

I agree that MTV needs to have this forcibly taken away from them, but are their any confirmations as to who is actually slated for the cast? Or is it all still speculation at the moment?

A lot of remakes are a bad idea and this is in the top ten for bad remake ideas.

Personally, I will renounce my liking of the Rocky Horror Picture Show if some one like Marilyn Manson is chosen for any part of it let alone the part of Dr. FranknFurter.
Manson couldn't even dream of being in the same category as Tim Curry.

Ewww Manson could never replace Tim Curry. I can't stand the bloke. The vision of his hideous, pale, scrawny legs in stockings and suspenders would put me off food for life! Even worse starring Lindsey and Paris. All they need is Uwe Boll directing it and it'd be the ultimate nightmare movie for me.

Actually...I'm not Mason's biggest fan but I think if you have to do a remake then he'd be the perfect Frank N Furter.

But this sounds like BS to me.

If they HAD to remake it, the perfect Frank N Furter is Anthony Stewart Head. He's already done it before and owned it.

I checked with mtv.com and a lot of other entertainment sites about this. Manson seems to be number one choice. I guess if you say goth in this country, he comes to america's mind.....

poor Richard O'Brien has even commented on this disaster stating "They do not have my blessing" and mtv has said that they're going to "ADD" songs to the remake

"I've even heard that they're going to put new songs it. I wrote the book, the music and the lyrics. Where are they going to get the songs from? Who's going to do that? That's a bit strange isn't it?" -Richard O'Brien

It's MTV, they can do what they want to.

Hopefully, if this does make it to its air date, no one will watch it, they'll get bottom of the bucket ratings and pull the plug on it.

Of course there could also be big ratings because people will tune in to watch the train wreck of a program this will be.

Personally I have no issues with remakes. At least I will be enjoying another horror movie (hopefully done well). Older slasher flicks are the films which can benefit from a reboot. Most of these films have become dated and can gain a significant boost with todays special effects (F/X).

I will definitely be checking out the reboot of The Crazies in February as well as The Wolfman and I am sure all of you will as well.

Now on the other hand if I ever hear of any talk regarding a JAWS remake I will officially join the pissed off remake bandwagon. You cannot mess with perfection and IMHO JAWS is exactly that, the greatest horror flick over created, yes I said horror.

that's how I feel about Nightmare on Elm Street....I actually cried when I learned of the remake. I don't care WHO is Freddy....no one can do better than Robert Englund...No one....

and I know some people like the new FX that we have today, but personally I'm not a fan...I miss the old Savini style. To me that looked 10x more realistic than the cgi stuff now. That and I hate how most remakes CHANGE things....

I know I'm about to step on a lot of toes.....buuuuuuuut

I HATE Rob Zombie's Halloween! There I said it!! I hate how Rob Zombie has this White-trash obsession and made Michael that way....I HAAAAAATE it....

but yeah that's getting off subject...I know 99% of this board likes Halloween...so don't bombard me with objections...I just personally hate it and I personally hate the fact that yet another one of my favorite films are getting "Re-imagined"

I think the remakes are getting out of hand all together. Not just in the horror genre, but it does seem to be mostly that genre for some reason. I mean come on. How does any producer think they can make a better Hellraiser movie. And as much as I love Rob Zombie I can't say I'm all that impressed with his Halloween remakes. It's been done movie people. Move on. Create your own script ideas....pleaseeeeeeeee.

I agree I didn't like the Halloween remake, I loved the original
