Hey all you cool ghouls -
Johnny Thunder here with news of Zombie's next feature film - yup, another remake and this time it's the sci-fi classic The Blob.
Seems like an odd choice for him, but on the other hand I - and other fans have noted - that he's really only done 'slasher' flicks so far. Read on for the details about his thoughts for the film, how he envisions the Blob itself and other info:

I think that it will ONLY be good if Steve McQueen is in this one too...
...but seriously folks....
If Zombie embraces the campy feel of the movie, and doesn't make it feel like every other movie he's directed, then it has some good potential...
I'm envisioning a retro-50's feel.

So, will the Blob have a white trash origin in this?
I think this goes to show that Zombie is devoid of any truly original ideas at all. If he’s not making his version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then he is making his version of Halloween and now the Blob.
I remember when Rob would complain about all the unoriginal remakes out there and now as long as you throw enough money at him, he’ll remake My Little Pony.
The number one problem with this idea, he will write it, god is his dialogue inane or what? F-this, F-that, tutty F-in’ fruity, please.
Number two, I don't need a remake of the Blob. The original is just fine with me.
Rob should do himself a favor, find someone to write a script for him and then he can do the one thing he does okay which is direct. And please, just once, spare us from having to watch your wife act. You'll have money and all that money can buy.

"My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing -- that's the first thing I want to change," Zombie said. "That gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now. I have a totally different take, one that’s pretty dark."
I wonder what he means by that. Is he going to make it red or black? And is he going to make it more liquid or humanoid or something? I just can't see how much you can change with a shapeless blob.

Rob should stick to making his own movies and ideas, there is so much slop out there no need to add to the pile. Devils Rejects was a good flick, and i don't mind the trashy feel to that because its his film, but when you do remakes and give them that look and feel. your just another pep from Hollywood sucking us horror fans dry with vanilla films and degrading the original art. but thats just me :-)
