Watching it right now. There's several VERY high quality, DVD rips online right now. Equal to a DVD on my computer. Good so far - very much a Halloween movie.... one of those horror movies that really gets you in the mood.
Also seeing interactions between some Dead Like Me characters... made me snicker.
PS - the movie is streaming online - not a download. So, no worries about downloading 'bad' stuff. I'm not posting any links though, so PM if you have questions.
PSS - Kinda cheesy-horror!

That's pretty much my definition - fun horror. That doesn't mean bad!
I see it as it isn't necessarily about superb acting or even solid story lines -- it's fun, some cheap thrills and scares, some unexpected twists, interesting characters -- but overall, I'm not going to be disturbed by what I watched. I enjoy it. It makes me smile. I like seeing some actors I recognize. It takes me back, like you said, to that 80's-style horror - on the total opposite side of the horror-spectrum when compared to Saw.
Basically, I can laugh at some of the 'gruesome' or 'horror' scenes in a cheesy movie, as opposed to looking away/being disgusted/quivering when some ridiculous contraption goes off like in Saw; or being so caught up and tense in a realistic-style horror that I'm genuinely concerned for what's going happen to the next person.
Plus, it's a Halloween movie, so of course I recommend to everyone who loves Halloween!

I guess this is why I never see what people are getting at, I see cheesy as a bad, poorly made film, i.e. Robot Monster.
Horror films never really disturb me so, I don’t hold that against them. Films like Saw seem cheesy to me with all of there convolute plot lines and mini-twist endings. Take something like Sleepy Hollow, it has less of a chance of disturbing someone than say a Saw film but it’s production, direction, and art direction are miles above any Saw flick.
I try and take a film for what it is, I don’t think Treat R’ Teat is really trying to disturb anyone really, seems more like a throw back to supernatural style horror, something I prefer. As the director said, it’s a love letter to Halloween. Same goes for Drag Me To Hell.
Horror fans are a fickly bunch, stuff like Saw and Hostel get labeled “torture porn” and supernatural films like Trick R’ Treat or Drag Me To Hell get called cheesy. I’m not sure what horror fans want.
You'll have money and all that money can buy.

Semantics!

I don't know... cheesy, corny, etc.... I either like it or I don't. Also, I'm a wuss. Like... something I won't admit to my wife or friends, but for example, right now as I type, I'm watching Drag Me To Hell and I can't STAND these quick-scare moments... like... they annoy me more than anything, but because they scare me... maybe I should stop typing....
Anyway, I enjoyed Trick r' Treat.
EDIT: Ok, I'm at the conclusion that what scares me is loud, unexpected noises. I just watched the 'anvil' scene in Drag Me... and almost woke my kid with laughter.

I asked at my Blockbuster last week and yes it is. They already had it (showed me the case). I'm really excited to see this movie.
