I thought it was a bit weird that the Best Buy near me put out the dvd, but not the blu-ray. They only had 3 of them, and they had to go get it out of the back. Never count on anyone at BB knowing anything. Since the blu-ray IS on their website, they can look it up by SKU.
Good point, but there is only one version of this movie. There would have to be enough profit to make a special Wal-Mart edit worthwhile. So no worries about buying at wallyworld.
The rumor is that the director got on someone's bad side at Warner Bros, and as a result, it was basically buried. The movie was made in 2006, so it's taken all this time even for a direct to video release.

It was non-linear for sure, but no more so than Pulp Fiction. Honestly, nothing stood out as a plot hole for me. I felt that the story was actually pretty tight, and wrapped up beautifully. The structure itself seems to be the biggest complaint of the few negative reviews I've seen.
As far as this forum goes, all of us being very much into Halloween, 99% of people here will love it as much as we did. A new Halloween tradition for sure.

You guys have me totally stoked for this movie. I won't be able to get it for a couple days but still excited to watch it my next days off.
It's Halloween, what more do you need to know.

Rented it today, I was surprised to see that Blockbuster had only one copy! (Really!?!?! One!?!?!).
I wasn’t disappointed in the least with this film. I tried not to let me expectations run wild before I had a chance to see this but I was really, really excited about it.
If you looking for a fun, witty, well made Horror film full of chills, thrills and Halloween atmosphere then this the movie for you.
The cinematography was really great as was the art direction, this movie looked like an A-movie all the way. It also carries a really great score.
No other film to date is more centered around Halloween than this one, heck the Sprit of Halloween is literally in each story.
The only negative for me, the use of “Sweet Dreams” in one scene. You'll have money and all that money can buy.

I bought my copy at Best Buy. I couldn't find it anywhere on the shelves, but then I saw a cart full of new DVD's, and hidden under a bunch of Snow White DVD's, there were about 4 or 5 copies of T'rT, and I made sure to get one. I watched it tonight, and I loved it. It was a little to short, as I'm someone who likes a good hour and 45 mins to 2 hour movie, but it was still good. When it was over, I felt like it was missing something, like I didn't just watch a full film. I'm definatly going to have to watch it again this weekend, and piece it all together, then maybe it will feel a little more full.
Overall, its a must see film for any horror or Halloween fan. Its not to scary, so you don't have to be a hardcore horror fan to see it. Definatly a classic that is going to become a tradition every year.

Just finished watching it.
I liked it. It was fun, great plot and story development, LOVED the non-linear weaving of the separate stories into a movie that IS Halloween. It didn't seem to be missing anything or loose ends left undone.
Good acting, nice pops of scary/gore without being gratuitous, and it moved at a decent pace.
It didn't have too many in-your-face scares. Actually, none that made me jump, and only one gore scene involving the hamstring
can't STAND that type of injury - that made me briefly look away. I did suspect a few of the storylines, but that doesn't bother me.... I've seen a TON of movies.
It is a crying shame this never saw a theater. Sam could have been the next Jigsaw or Chucky and I'd have loved a shirt with him on it.

I can't find it for sale anywhere near me! Target doesn't have it, has no space set aside for it, and the guy checked the back rooms and had nothing. WalMart was the same story. Where are you folks buying yours at?

I dunno, maybe it was the child-like stories with all the young children in them. It really reminded me of some children's horror tales I've seen on TV during the month of october.made for TV children's horror? I can't really see that at all.
As I said, I've been waiting for this movie since 2007...I haven't read anything about it in over a year so I totally forgot that it wasn't supposed to be a hardcore horror flick. If I had remembered that going in, I think I would have been a lot happier. I was expecting more of a Creepshow type of movie.
I wasn't a fan of the ending though
I actually liked that. That's one of the only songs of his that I've ever enjoyed...because the way he sings it makes it sound so spooky. The only negative for me, the use of “Sweet Dreams” in one scene.
I rented from Netflix. I never buy DVDs on a first viewing. I only buy them when I really really love the movie.I can't find it for sale anywhere near me! I have been waiting 3 GD years for Trick 'r Treat to come out. My girlfriend and I got it yesterday. I loved it! It is now in my Halloween DVD collection! I am still pissed I had to wait 3 years before I could see it! It is not "THE BEST HALLOWEEN FILM EVER" but it has some good short stories all conected to SAM AKA Sam Hein.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.
