Just as the title says. A bit of a fun and informative thread.
ONE MISSED CALL (2003) - Takashi Miike
I have actually been after seeing this for quite some time, but have not wanted to pay ridiculous prices for buying the DVD. So FINALLY I have been able to catch a TV showing.
As a fan of Takashi Miike films, I actually was expecting something I would enjoy(which is rare for me, as I usually don't carry expectations for films I'm watching for the first time). I found that I wasn't disappointed at all.
This had a really creepy idea, by using a phone , an every day item, to bring terror upon those involved.
"Same day same time", and 'same message'. The film revolves around individuals receiving phones-calls, or missed calls with a voice mail, only to discover their own voice on the other side, yet from a date that has not yet occurred.
************************
POSSIBLE SPOILERS FROM HERE UNTIL END
the death concerning the lift, shows that death is inevitable, or unavoidable in most cases. We see that e refuses to voluntarily go into the 'lift', bu it left with no control over it.
We also have a theme of exploitation. natsumi is shown on TV in her circumstances. There is even a live broadcast of the for coming event; the day of her 'voice mail'. yet in natsumi's case, she didn't get a voice mail; it was a creepy picture. Just imagine getting picture message of how you may die! How freaky would you feel, if people you knew f had died after involvement with phones?
I even found myself cringing at the few scenes there were involving nails upon people's hands. I don't know why, but I have a thing about that that makes me feel uneasy!
Also found myself saying "nooooooo!?" a few times throughout!
************************************
Overall, a great film to watch, highly recommended!

Heh, the way you wrote HORROR makes it scarier.

I watched 13 Ghosts the other night, and for a movie from the 50s it probably scared the bejeezus out of viewers.
And The Haunting- the original- which still manages to be one of the few movies that gives me creeps and I'm not even sure why.My Vintage Halloween Blog. (Always a work in progress.)

I saw that film Freudstein, it was not bad at all, quite interesting in fact. This is a variation of ghost/curse stories, I recommend it too

It's amazing how Japanese horror films are quite similar in substance - the spirit seeking for vengeance beyond the grave and slayering those who are unlucky enough to be linked with the dead - , but you always enjoy it even it looks like the others !"In just seven days I can make you a man!"

Yes, that's right, Z!I feel like that about the similar films too.
And speaking of them......I last watched 'The Eye'(2002).
This is one of the creepiest films ever, in my opinion!
Our lead character Mun sees and experiences some very bizzare things, following her cornea transplant. It is filled with tense moments, and has some unexpected events.
British film critic and TV personality Jonathan Ross hit the nail on the head when he described it as "genuinely spooky".
