One of my fave back stories.
The guy who wrote the script for The Omen did it in next to no time by going down to The Village and getting every cheap paperback on the occult he could find tearing out pages and sticking the topics into one script. 20Th hated it. But they thought it MIGHT make a good drive in movie.
Then The Exorcist went over the top, and 20th ONLY had THE OMEN on the assembly line and decided to uprgrade the thing to an A list movie with BIG stars.
The thing makes a fortune.
So they bring the guy back in to do the paperback novel movie tie in.
It goes to number one.
He quits and goes south to count his money. Last I heard he is STILL laughing about it all.

Watched Quarantine right now. Yikes... I think it's good - didn't really have a desire to watch it, but found a DVD quality online streaming. Besides the little quirk I have about the guy holding the 20lb camera making it through to the end over some of these other, it was a bit scary!
I love that you can hear the cops/helicopter/etc the entire time, so in the back of my mind I keep thinking, "well... help is only right outside..." but, of course......
On a negative note: there were still too many cliches with the folks doing things they shouldn't do - touching and getting close to people... or generally not killing someone instantly after you just saw them bite off someone else's face....
I think I'd be a bad person to have around if there were some sort of "zombie"-style outbreak, because I don't think I would have patience or compassion to say, "Yea... I see this person in our party has been bitten by that guy who just gnawed off our landlord's ear and is bleeding out of every orifice, but, sure... lets hold her hand and hug her to make sure she knows she's loved... go ahead everyone, get close to her, she won't turn into a raving, flesh-eating mutant for a while... ... we love you lady - hugs!" No sir. No. If you sneeze awkwardly, you get the first Bic pen I see shoved through your eyeball. But killing once isn't enough, so you also get the courtesy of the nearest 100lb object dropped on your head until its a doughy batter.

Eden Lake---This movie was sick (in a good way). Be forewarned that this movie is definitely not for everyone. 7.5 out of 10
Let the Right One In--Very good Vampire movie 7.5 out of 10
REC--Better than Quarantine with a fantastic ending to boot. 7 out of 10
Lost Boys 2--Total waste of time. 0 out of 10
Halloween (reboot)--I will be in the minority here, but I thought the movie was ok. I will stipulate that I am just as much a gore hound as a classics watcher so needless killing does not offend me. 6 out of 10
