Try as they might, screen writers can never come up with anything as frightening as what we can come up with in our dreams. The mind knows what scares us.

I've had several dreams relating to horror movies I've seen, but the most frightening I had was probably around 10 or 15 years ago. I was at my aunts house late at night. I was alone in the dining room in the dark with only the dim light from the street coming through the window. I could faintly hear people talking outside. I turned and saw an attractive girl standing there looking at me. It was dark, but, being a dream, I could see her quite clearly. She had staring glassy looking eyes and an eerie smile. In the real world, I would never know, but in the dream I knew that she was dead. She came at me and I knew that she was trying to kill me. I wrestled with her and managed to get her down on the floor where I started stomping on her face. I looked down, and, as she continued to struggle, her face was all dirty from the bottom of my shoe, but she still had that eerie smile. Before she could get off the floor, I woke up. It was a while before I could get back to sleep. I've had many other nightmares, but that was probably the most disturbing in recent years. I guess I watch too many zombie movies (if that's possible).

If there are any other dream threads here that I have missed, I would be interested in reading about them.

as a small child i had the same nightmare for a week about a ghosty white screaming banshee lady with yellow eyes, wild hair, torn clothes, and slashed wrists trying to hack me up with a butchers knife while i was in my own bed.

still freaks me out even though the dream has happened in years.

That's wild. That could scare an adult. I can only imagine what that could do to a child. My nightmares as a child were simpler, though still scary.

Unlike a completed novel or movie, as authors of our own dreams, I think we make them up in our minds as we go along. They could go in any direction.

our dreams and nightmares are the subconcious minds playground, and sometimes the subconcious can be the cruelest kid that delights in throwing sand in your eyes.
many reaserchers think dreams are a way to cope with daily stress

and my nightmare did scare my parents; i guess when you cant wake your sleeping, screaming, child you tend to panic.

That's scary. I think I would panic too.

And it's amazing how warped dreams can be. One minute you're on a crowded beach, and the next you're in a deserted graveyard for no apparent reason.

one minute your wondering how you survived the car exploding, the next minute you've been abducted by tim curry who is rambling about a foiled evil plan.

really couldn't figure that one out myself.

That's a good one. Is that a dream you actually had?

Was it Pennywise from "It" or was it just Tim Curry?
