Generally, I don't go to the movie theater very often. The theaters where I live are very outdated. Poor screen quality, poor sound, loud obnoxious people, poor seating, thousands of commercials and previews....
I really think that the whole movie theater industry has to make some major changes in the next 5 years if they expect to survive. I know that I'd much rather wait the extra 4 months and rent the DVD and watch it on my widescreen TV with 5.1 Dolby surround sound. (And no, I didn't pay thousands for all that... I paid about $450 total, bought everything on sale).
As far as the horror movies go... I do like some of the new ones... I LOVED The Ring... and I did see the Japanese version (which, although I know it was the original, I thought it wasn't NEARLY as scary as the American one). Geez... negative film shots when someone dies.... my 10 year old video camera can do that! LOL!
If the movie is well made and interesting then it doesn't really matter whether it's PG-13 or R... if it's good, it's good.
