I have been looking forward to the release of this film for months. I remember seeing the original as an ABC Tuesday Movie of the Week back in the 1970s, and thought it was just the creepiest movie ever. I went to see the remake this weekend, and it was a pretty bitter disappointment.

For starters, they tried to add a back story, which was cool, but the story was pretty much explaining the bad guys (formerly the lemonheads), are essentially the tooth fairy. If this sounds stupid, it's because it is. Instead of the three lemonheads there are dozens and dozens of critters causing mayhem, which also took away a lot of the creepiness. Lastly, a lot of the scenes make no sense. One was where the little girl kills one of the creatures between two sliding bookcases, and you see it's arm sticking out, and when the room fills with adults no one seems to notice there's an arm sticking out from between the bookcases. Worse, the girl starts ranting about having taken a picture of the creatures instead of just pointing to the bookcase. It was just stupid.

I suggest saving your theater money and devoting a $1 when this comes to Redbox, which will probably be in just a few weeks.

Thank you for the review. I was curious, but it did give me bad vibes as a horror story. Read a few reviews, and all says the same, good atmosphere, fail in scares and story wise. I wonder about Appolo 18th...

I'm not holding out much hope for the Apollo 18 movie, and I saw the previews for the remake of the remake of The Thing... too bad they didn't remake the original, it was much better than Carpenter's movie.

What did look good was the previews for The Woman in Black. It's a ghost story and the visuals were stunning!

Well there is a prequel for The Thing coming out this October.

Apollo 18 looks like it could be really good, or utter crap. Not sure if there will be an in-between for that film.
...somewhere in the north-woods darkness, a creature walks upright.
