I love watching Fearfest. The Halloween movies are a requirement, but I'd only stick around to watch 1 and 3. Can't go wrong with A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the Thirteenth. The Hammer Horror movies are great too. I have a feeling this year they're going to be playing big blocks of The Walking Dead as well.

I enjoy Fear Fest a lot - so glad the do it. ABC Families 13 Nights of Halloween is another story....they seem to put on weaker stuff. I will say that I STILL turn it on for ambiance when I am cleaning the house, making dinner, decorating etc. But for AMC I will sit down and enjoy it! (Go Walking Dead!! Really enjoyed that show but now that the head writer/producer/director have stepped down or is taking a different role I am worried about it not being as good)
As I was going up the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. I wish, I wish he'd go away.

I make it a point to scour in the net in September and eagerly await advertisements for it or listings and schedules.

Personally I am more of a Nostalgic Halloween watcher -- I much prefer the older Dracula, Wolfman, and Frankenstein movies. Well, the remakes are good too -- Bram Stoker's with Keenu Reeves and Mary Shelly's with Robert De Niro, so maybe I am more of a "Traditionalist" type.

That and I love (love love love) the Campy/Comedy Horror movies -- Abbot and Costello, Billy the Kid Vs Dracula, that sorta thing. These movies used to air more frequently during "Fearfest" but have since been delegated to late-late night while making room for movies like Freddy and Michael Meyers in prime time.

I like horror movies, don't get me wrong, but I can watch them any time of year. I much prefer watching something that's centered around the Frankenstein, Dracula, and Black Lagoon Monsters during the season.

I enjoy the show also, sadly there has become a bit of a screwy situation with the man, show runner Frank Darabont, who left.

Apparently AMC wanted Frank to put bigger limits the show for financial reasons (less zombies, less on location out-door scenes) It seems that the first season, though wildly successful, was very expensive and AMC already delegates the Lions Share toward Mad Men. Frank refused to adapt his vision for the show because he was afraid it would cheapen the product. He and AMC fought about it -- Frank left and or was fired.

Walking Dead does now have a new show runner (Glen Mazzara, Darabont's right hand man) and according to Steven Yeun (who plays "Glenn" on the show) the show won't suffer from Darabont's departure.

But in the same light, outside sources say that the actors are hesitant to be too critical of AMC as it is a ZOMBIE SHOW after all and the characters could be easily 'killed off' at a moments notice.

The show will be back on the airwaves on AMC in October.

Most are shown WAY too many times during FearFest, but its awesome that they do it, and while I own most if not all the films on DVD I'd rather watch them on TV with a bunch of people in my horror chat room on my Camp Blood site (we do movie marathons and stuff, its wicked fun). Otherwise, watching it uncut just isn't as fun...but it brings back memories of me being a kid watching them on tv lol. I used to watch USA UP All Night and TNT Monstervision and things like that, those were always a lot of fun.

I've found I watch less and less theme months on AMC. After watching for several years, it seems like every year they show pretty much the same movies. I'm guessing AMC has broadcast rights to a select bunch of movies and it's cost beneficial to add a few new ones each year and just rebroadcast the remaining catalong year after year.

I've started tuning into Turner Classic Movies a lot more since they became available on our cable. TCM shows a much better range of movies and their theme events and marathons include many movies I haven't seen in decades.

What they should do for FearFest is get a REAL host to present and host each movie. Just like Joe Bob for TNT or back when Gilbert Godfried or Rhonda Shears used to do for USA Up All Night. It would be a lot more entertaining, and I think a lot more people would tune in because they want to see what the hosts are doing. I don't want to just see someone introduce the movie and thats it.

I did notice last year that they updated their films to better cuts. I don't know if every station has done this. But not as much is cut out anymore and the quality of each movie was great. I think they showed each Friday The 13th in HD except one or two of them, and heck only 1-3 are available on Blu-Ray, so it was a treat.
