I was just wondering if anyone had ever made their own horror movie? I thought about making one and submitting it to one of those horror fim festivals just for kicks. I dunno just toying with the idea. Anybody ever do this?

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

My younger brother is currently at Los Angeles Film School and wants to do a horror film for his thesis. We have been bouncing around ideas, so its in the future...Got any ideas? Lol.
I did make one when I was a kid on super 8mm film, like an old home movie. You can imagine how cheesey it was. We did some zombie effects and some falling stunts. It was fun. My Mom has the movie stored away somewhere.

I got tons of ideals for stories. I drew and wrote comics when I was younger.

I made one as kid. It was with my Dad's 8mm Brownie wind-up movie camera. LOL
Had my best friend made up like a zombie coming back from the grave. I think we called it "Return of Scarface". It was fun!

i've never done it, i think about it though. it would be fun. when we were real small we use to make up skits and put on plays for our parents. and a few years ago, my sister, daughter, neice, and grandson made one up and put it on a vhs tape. that was my birthday present. it's supposed to be scary, but so sweet. they did it to a scary song. i guess you could call it a musical. so i say, go for it. you will have a blast doing it

It is a great way to spend four or five years of your life... so go for it! One down side though is that horror is often the preferred genre for first time scriptwriter / producer / actor / director so it will be difficult to do something original. Best bet is to start REALLY small... I've been playing with doing a movie trailer for a fake movie, a la "Machete", without even worrying about actually producing the real movie. And even THAT seems to take forever.

Never ever made a film per-say, but I've always wanted to create an actual GOOD sasquatch film, with a realistic creature, and decent plot.
