I am a child from the 80s, and 80s movies will always be the best for me. I have always good memories from this time era, and anyone who disagree with me, most of the time it's because they have not live in the 80s. (well, my opinion and logic!).
But sometime, reality hit you in the face as sometimes, nostalgia is not what it seemed to be.
"The Willies" is a perfect example when you remember it being great when you are 9 year old, in the early 80s, or you think it was. I was glad to find this movie at Zellers for 4$, I was all "This movie was super cool and scary when I saw it 30 years ago!".
Man, it sad when you realise you might have been an idiot as a child sometimes. Even from the 80s, the acting is horrribblleee!! Stories in it was so bad, what I ate for supper was more scary. I wish I could say it as Campy, or citch (?) to it, but no, it's just bad and embarrassing to watch it.
My wife watch 5 minute with me and made fun of me, as I deserved it, telling her was a good horror from my childhood before starting it.
Even for nostalgia, please avoid it. The only thing I like, it made a cheap joke of the GOONIES as one of the main actors is from it.

It would have been hard for you to see this in the early 80's since it didn't come out until 1990.
Meh, I really enjoy this one. Good, dirty fun IMO.
James Karren (Return Of The Living Dead I, II, Frankenstein Meets The Space Monster) is a lot of fun.
It's a movie directed by Scuz from Return Of The Living Dead and has giant fly’s ripping the arms off of Donkey Lips from Salute Your Shorts, what's not to like?
If you went into The Willies wanting to be scared then you kind of missed the point.
I'll take this over the Goonies any day! You'll have money and all that money can buy.

Man, 1990!!!, it's worst than I remember then! (L).
Like I mention, I used to like it, but I guess my taste changed with time. Being a fan of Return of the living dead also, I respect your opinion too, Mr Scracth. (S)
I think I was expecting way more, like I said, reality and memories are not the same.

I can relate. In the 60's I thought the series "Lost In Space" was the COOOOOOLEST show ever. A few years back I saw a rerun and said out loud (literally) "Man, I was a dorky kid".
I think our childhood experiences can be attributed to lack of experience. When we watched these shows as kids, we really didn't have much to compare them to."Waiter, there's a hair in my soylent green!"
