Growing up, my family was not big into Halloween. Just the tradiitonal few items that everyond did. I started thinking about my youth and what might have steered me to enjoy it as much as I did. Not really a single happenstance for me. As a small lad I watched Monster Movie Matinee every Saturday morning. I received some of the old Aurora Monster Model Kits, read a few "Witching Hour" comics and had the ubiquitous felt black light poster (mine was of a haunted house). My interest just seem to grow. Anyway, what about some of you, what led to your interest????

Thats great. Meeting Elvira had to be quite a thrill at that age. I remember watching her and she was pretty funny.

Yeah, my friend and I had to be like Beavis and Butthead at the time. We met her while she was in full costume, so we experienced the full mistress clevage.

I promised myself to apoligize for pre-teen drooling if I ever run into her again.

Growing up in the 80's, horror was on television every Saturday (both shows and movies), so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. I'd watch The Gate, Trilogy of Terror, or whatever movie was on during the day, then catch the late-night block of Monsters, Tales from the Darkside, and Friday the 13th: The Series; despite (or perhaps because of) their cheesiness, I still like those shows. Most of my toys were creepy, too, like Boglins, Mad Scientist, and the like, so...

I lived in a rural area, and could never get my parents to take me Trick or Treating. One year I bugged so much that my mom promised she would just go to the store and buy me candy if I stayed home and stopped bugging her.

But she never bought the candy, and I have been trying to fill that empty, sugar hungry void ever since. Broken promises made me as hollow as a carved out jack o'lantern.
