I was just going through some old boxes and found my collection of H.P. Lovecraft books. I loved these books so much that I saved them and I`m going to read them all over again.
What was your first horror book ? Title and author please.

Amityville Horror by Jay Anson when I was twelve. When the movie came out in '79 I begged my mom to let me see it 'cause it was rated - R. I'm proud to say I stuck through the whole movie without fleeing in terror. But, boy if I see more than 2 flies by a window pane.... <shudder>

Misery, Stephen King, And I was about 13. Didn't understand a lot of elements, or even situations. King didn't really paint a vivid picture in my mind with his writing, but it did scare me

I am not much of a reader. Short attention span. I tried to read Frankenstein as a kid, but I got bored after about five chapters.
I had to go on sick leave at the end of August. I needed something to do, so I thought I might try it again. I read Stephen King's novella, The Mist. Not too bad. I have since read
I am Legend - Richard Matheson
'salems Lot - King
Pet Sematary - King
Carrie - King
Cujo - King
Fire Starter - King
Not impressive for most readers, but very impressive for me. I still find myself having to go back and review during reading to remind myself of what is going on. Stephen King does a lot of flashbacks, digressing, and bouncing around. He also introduces a lot of names. I'm bad with names.

Probably something by John Saul. Could have been pretty much any one of them, they were all pretty much the same.
