    Hey Friends,

    Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday!

This year, in an effort to overcome the post Halloween blues, I've decided to begin working on Monster Mud projects. I've always wanted to create some tombstones following Terra's tutorials and then make the 7 foot burlap reaper.

I've moved into a new home this year and now finally have room in storage to house some large tombstones, etc.

Just wondering, however, how generally heavy these pieces end up being. Will moving them back and forth from the basement prove a challenge?

    Peace and joy!

Very light. I did a 7.5" reaper and I can lift it.

Thanks for the info. I hoped that was the case. They sure look heavy. Excited to get going.

I'm glad you asked! I wanted to know, too. I'm curious to find out how durable they are. Those & foam headstones, too.

A bucket of Drywall mud is probably 50 pounds, a gallon of paint is around 10 pounds and then you have the weight of your frame and cloth.

The paint and drywall mud has water in both so some of the weight will evaporate as the prop drys. This is just a guess but I would think at least 1/3 of the weight will evaporate, maybe 50%.

I used a half a bucket of mud and a half gallon of paint and dipped some sheets in and made a ghoul. I would guess the weight to be less than 10 lbs. It was 6 feet tall.
Edit - That includes the frame, which was pvc piping.

We've built 3 MM's to use for the Halloween weekend at the theatrer. One sitting and 2 standing. Used an old out lawn chair and wood/chicken wire frame for Mike. Andrew is wood and chicken wire. Brandon is wood with a chipboard back and chicken wire. I can move them all. Mike and Andrew are bulky since they have the sizing of an oversized person. Brandon though over 6 feet tall, is more manageable since he was build to stand flat against a wall, so his back is chipboard and not as wide as a normal human. For all three we used thrift store fabric finds... mostly a broadcloth blend similar to bed sheets. Mike has since been retired to our home yard haunt, Brandon guards the Bar area inside the theater. Andrew is moved outside every night of Halloween weekend and back in every night.. don't want him to wander off to the frat houses nearby never to be seen again. One person can move Andrew easily. In fact all three are easily moved by one person, as long at the doorway is both wide and tall enough for them to fit.

Yes the mix is pretty heavy when wet but it seems to lose a lot of weight as it dries.

Victor, my MM creature of the night is very light for his size and is very easy to transport. Just give him a big hug and lift him over your head, I loaded him into the truck 8 times this year by myself.
We stopped checking for monsters under our beds when we realized they were inside of us
