I'm having a bit of a stress attack (AGAIN) over this FCG. We have her set up and running beautifully. She goes for about 15 minutes and then BOOM! she's on the floor of the living room because the fishing line we are using is cut through by the fender washer we used to build her.

The directions called for the fender washer and of course you have to drill 3 holes in it to attach the lines...well from her running these holes are rubbing against the fishing line causing it to cut and to be honest I'm not sure what to do about this.

The issue isn't the fishing line...I did not scrimp on the line. We bought 50 lb test, braided line so it should be plenty strong enough.

HELP!! Not sure what to do about the line issue, any suggestions?
As I was going up the stair, I saw a man that wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today...Oh how I wish he'd go away.

Go to creepcrafter.con and see how they do theirs. They use a patio door replacement roller that has a bearing in it that works pretty slick. Then you drill your 3 holes and clip a fishing leader onto it to go to your ghost. You can get them at Home Depot.

the holes of your washer has burrs, and they are cutting the fishing line.

couple options -use a dremel to debur the holes (probably a diamond bit or grinding stone)

or you could just tie your lines to fishing leaders, paper clips, etc and clip the line to the washer.

honestly, stress wasn't in the tutorial.

I just tied my line (I used 30lb test) pretty tight to each of the 3 holes in the washer. there is not much movement in the line back and forth that way to slice it open. Do you have a picture of your rig?

I suggest fishing swivels tied to lines.Easy on and off and the swivel prevents kinks.

i had an issue with mine (exact same set up as pictured above)
i had one tiny little burr in the wrong place and it kept cutting the line.

50 lbs test on my rig. after the 10th time it cut the line, i simply removed the burr with my dremel.

    hasn't broken since.

I too have had to re-string the head of my FCG several times and my thought is that a heavier test fish line will solve the issue. I also use the fish swivels.
