I am testing my new fogger and it is making a *lot* of noise...sounds like a knife blade in a trash compactor. Chattery nightmare. Is this normal?
It *is* producing fog...but I don't want it to explode and spray a dozen TOTs with hot, foggy shrapnel...

don't worry, this is normal.
all foggers when new make lots of noise because of the pump feeding the fluid from the tank, some pumps are quieter than others when you first pump them when i got my new 700 watt fogger it made a loud pump/ motor noise louder than a Speedboat!!CAUTION: Enter if you DARE!!!

So, will it quiet down at some point?
I am *very* relieved, but still concerned that the racket will murder the ambiance.Soup of the Day - Spilt Pee

it will quiet down as the fog juice moves into the pump area more, of course you'll still hear noise from the pump motor and the nozzle area where the fog shoots from.
if your pump makes ALOT of noise still even primed full of fog juice and small fog output, your fogger may be clogged, but that's when you haven't used it in a while and didn't flush out the machine.CAUTION: Enter if you DARE!!!

I fired up a new 400 watter and it was so loud it sounded like a table saw- no fog either. Then I did the old fashioned smack on the side of the unit and bingo- noise went away and fog is plentiful. So don't forget the old smackeroo! Sometimes it's all it takes. I'd watch that fogger though. The pump is never silent, but when it's operating properly it's very muffled. Almost undetectable. Keep an eye on it for pump failure.
My other trusty 400 watter fired right up again this year, having never cleaned it and keeping it half full of juice over the past year. I really don't buy into the cleaning thing. In my experience, when you get a fogger that works properly from day one, nothing is needed but keeping some juice in it at all times and storing it upright through the year.
Luckily, all my new foggers are working great.

and I'm going to debunk that......
I store several foggers in a coffin that is upright 11.5 months out of the year. I've never cleaned em, and they've performed every single time. They all make a ruckus each year the first time I use them, but the volume seems to smooth out the 2nd to 3rd cycle.

All of my foggers make a nice, low level hum as the solenoid kicks in and the pump passes fluid into the heating chamber on the way out the nozzle. Like any Halloween prop or haunt device, always pay special attention when you first buy/create the item and operate it for the first time (with full success). I let this be a guide as the item becomes somewhat worn over time and THEN you can tel if the device is mal-functioning. If a fogger breaks right out of the box......you can always return it for another.
