So I searched around a little and couldn't find anything about any kind of monster in the garage or guy pounding on the door to get out. I felt like I left my garage and driveway out, and was thinking maybe next year I could rig a servo to lift the garage up and down a little, or have a rig pushing on the door with a guy screamning or something. Fire breathing monster inside the garage maybe, or atleast a red fog breathing monster. lol

Anyone have any experience with this kind of effect?? Would shake the entire neighborhood!!

I don't have any experience in this but instead of getting a servo powerful enough to lift a garage door why not use air pressure? As in a vinyl tube that fills with air (timed or motion activated could be possible) stuck under the garage door so that when aired up pushes the garage door up a few inches. Air blasters would be perfect for this and probably cheaper then a servo rig.

Yea I thought of something like that, but I don't have a good air compressor yet, just one of those cheap ones from target so it would probably end up costing more for that rig.

Another idea I had was kind of like that assylum door. If you could build a rig that looked like garage door panels out of fabric, maybe 2 panels high, open your garage door halfway and slide it under and have the same kind of effect that the assylum door had like someone kicking it really hard. This idea is WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY out of my skill league, but I thought there might be a few people capable of such awesomeness.

Ok I really like the Super Sized asylum door idea and it would be alot easier than the actual asylum door. Now you've given me food for thought lol. As for your garage what kind of door does it have? If you have the standard three panel door with garage door opener I definitely wouldn't try the whole lift the door a little as you would probably mess up either the opener or the door itself. The asylum door would be really easy to do with a few air cylinders and some thrift store finds. Never under estimate yourself just give yourself enough time to figure it out lol!

Maybe just a pair of kicking legs under the door. You could also make a sound clip of someone strugling and yelling for help. Burn it on a cd and loop it

Just a standard 5 panel aluminum door, so it's really light. If you disconnect the garage door opener (just pull the red cord that you never touch lol) and it's free flowing up and down, on most models anyway. Using an air cylinder to move it up and down is prob a better idea than an electrical servo though because of the weight, and you would need far less air than the bags would need too. I agree and think that it would be easier than making the assylum door, simply because you don't have to mount a monitor lol. But you could have a seriously scary sounding monster inside, pounding and denting the door, and it's ALWAYS scarier when you don't know what's inside
