Well, nothing like leaving things to the last minute. I want to hook up a microcontroller to control two Cowlacious audio boards. And shortly AFTER Halloween, I should be receiving some nice jumper cables with female ends that will be perfect

Does anyone know how I can connect to the header pins, using only something available in local areas, not mail order? Thanks!

Have you tried any hobby shops in the area? I'm assuming you are using a 3 wire header.
You could also use some individual pins and make your own jumpers. Maybe a computer repair shop would have some extras .... Post a picture of what you're wanting to do and I'll see if I can help.

Thanks! Yes, turns out it was much ado about nothing. Although I only need two connections rather than three, the standard PWM cables will work fine.
