I have enjoyed this season of HF, lots of folks taking the time to make some wonderful props and then post pics/vids here. I still cringe in the big box stores where many of the good props designed around here in the last ten years have been cheaply commercialized.

But is it weird that as I look at more and more prop project photos, I spend more time looking to the workshop and garage in the background of the shot?

The tools, the setup, how organized, how cluttered, other props, supplies...the cords, cables, wiring, etc.


Enjoy your time in the workshop, be that the kitchen table or an elaborate laboratory of Mythbusters-esque scale. Enjoy the time with whatever lab assistant you are lucky enough to have, a spouse, a child, a neighbor. This weekend will go quickly, and for some it looks to be rough weather. So you prop-builders keep in mind, you have already had a successful season keeping the imaginative and engineering spirit alive.

I'm sure all would like to thank you for the comments. I too am guilty of looking in the background.

I like to go to the big stores for ideas, and make my own props better then the ones i see. Some times just re-purposing a prop make a world of difference.

I, too, look in the background of everyone's pics. Especially if they have a CLEAN floor (unlike mine) LOL Scratching head......wondering......when do y'all have time to clean??? LOL

I always notice the clean garages VS. the cluttered ones and yearn for the day when i have that very same clean and organized work area! I am so damned tired of tripping over extension cords, compressor hose and scraps and tools.....Hey! yeah! what is that in the background anyway????
